Four Winds Recovery from an Alumni’s perspective.
My time at Four Winds Recovery was truly life-changing for me. When I came in, I made the decision that I was going to fully commit to my recovery and actually do the work instead of just going through the motions. Recovery only works if you’re willing to be honest, put in the effort, and take accountability—and that’s what I did.
Four Winds gave me the structure, support, and environment I needed to grow. The apartments are clean, comfortable, and a great place to focus on rebuilding your life. But what really makes the difference is the staff. They genuinely care about the guys there and want to see people succeed. They’re not just there to do a job—they invest in people.
One thing I respect about Four Winds is that they don’t tolerate people playing games or trying to work a dishonest program. If someone isn’t serious about recovery and is bringing negativity or chaos into the environment, they handle it. That accountability creates a place where people who truly want recovery can thrive.
One of the biggest things I learned while I was there is how important it is to build relationships with other men in recovery. You have to be willing to be raw, honest, and vulnerable about what you’re going through. Some of the deepest growth came from having hard conversations, opening up, and realizing I wasn’t alone in my struggles. Brotherhood and accountability matter more than I ever realized.
I also experienced loss while I was there. I lost a couple of friends from the program, and that was incredibly hard. But as painful as it was, it became an important life experience for me. It reminded me how serious addiction is, how precious life is, and how important it is to stay committed to recovery—not just for myself, but for the people around me.
For me personally, committing to the process and doing the work really showed in my life. I grew mentally, spiritually, and emotionally, and I learned how to build a stronger foundation for lasting recovery. I’m grateful for my time at Four Winds and thankful for the people there who helped push me to become a better man.
