Summer is often the BEST time to get counseling scheduled before fall routines get hectic again!

As school starts back, afternoons and evenings fill up very quickly — especially for children, teens, college students, and families trying to balance sports, activities, homework, and busy schedules. By the time fall arrives, many people are all trying to get in at once, and preferred appointment times can become limited.

Summer can be a great opportunity to:
• Build coping skills before stress increases
• Process challenges from the past school year
• Prepare emotionally for transitions and life changes
• Help teens get ready for college or high school
• Work on anxiety, stress, OCD, ADHD, self-esteem, relationships, or emotional regulation before schedules become overwhelming again

Starting therapy before things feel “too much” can make a huge difference. It gives people time to build tools and support systems before the busy season hits.

Our team works with children, teens, college students, adults, couples, and families both in-person in Marietta and virtually throughout Georgia.

If you’ve been thinking about starting therapy, summer is a wonderful time to begin. ☀️

Our outreach liaison had the opportunity to connect with Ciara, a Business Development Representative from the Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders. We are excited to learn more about the important work Renfrew is doing and to build a strong referral relationship together.

The Renfrew Center has 17 locations across the East Coast, including their Atlanta facility, which offers Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP), treatment for ARFID, and ongoing support groups.

We are always grateful to connect with trusted community resources that can help support our clients with specialized care and additional levels of support when needed.

Our outreach liaison had the honor of volunteering at a 5K supporting pediatric hospice and palliative care through the Momento Foundation. Together, the event raised an incredible $78,000 to support children and families navigating some of life’s most difficult moments.

We are deeply grateful to partner in this mission by providing therapy and emotional support to families with children in hospice and palliative care. Walking alongside these families through grief, uncertainty, love, and resilience is profoundly meaningful work, and we are honored to be part of their support system.

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, volunteered, and helped make this event possible. Community care matters, and it is powerful to see so many people come together to support these families. 💜

Stonewalling is one of the most damaging communication patterns in relationships— and many people don’t even realize they’re doing it.

Stonewalling can look like:
• Shutting down during conflict
• Refusing to talk things through
• Walking away without reassurance
• Ignoring texts/calls after an argument
• Giving one-word answers or the silent treatment
• Emotionally “checking out”

Sometimes people stonewall because they feel overwhelmed or don’t know how to handle conflict. But for the person on the receiving end, it can feel incredibly painful and emotionally unsafe.

Over time, chronic stonewalling can lead to:

Anxiety
Resentment
Emotional disconnection
Loss of trust
Feeling lonely inside the relationship
Healthy communication does NOT mean never needing a break. It means communicating through the break.

Instead of stonewalling, try:
✔️ “I’m overwhelmed and need a little time to calm down.”
✔️ “I want to come back and finish this conversation.”
✔️ Taking a 20–30 minute break instead of disappearing emotionally
✔️ Staying engaged even when things feel uncomfortable

Conflict itself doesn’t destroy relationships. Emotional disconnection and avoidance often do.

Relationships heal through emotional presence, repair, and communication — not silence.
