Kenneth M. “Ken” McBrayer, born August 15, 1952 in Marietta, GA died on September 11, 2001. Ken worked on the 104th floor of the South Tower (2 WTC) as an investment banker and partner at Sandler O'Neill & Partners. He was also a veteran...

Ken graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1974 and spent five years in the Navy as an engineer on several ships, including the aircraft carrier SARATOGA. I was unaware he was a veteran and wish to share this picture of him as we remember all those who were lost in the attacks on 9/11. God Bless you Ken.

Alice Reynolds was married to Wellborn Myers Reynolds, a well-known Marietta lawyer. She was an active member of Fielding Lewis Chapter NSDAR and Kennesaw Chapter UDC.

Cordelia Brumby was married to Thomas Micajah Brumby Jr., president of Brumby Chair Company.

𝟐𝟗 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐨 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲, August 31, 1997, Princess Diana died following a tragic car crash in Paris. This picture, from the Sept 1st edition of the Marietta Daily Journal, shows her casket being carried by airmen of the Royal Air Force after arriving at Northolt Royal Air Force Base.

The 36 year old princess is fondly remembered as a “queen of people’s hearts” and the “people’s princess”. Sadly, Princess Diana died of a broken heart, literally. She died of cardiac arrest due to internal bleeding. Doctors at Hospital La Pitie Salpetriere opened Diana’s chest cavity to find a wound of the left pulmonary vein. External and internal heart massage failed to start the princess’ heart.

𝐉𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐧𝐨𝐬𝐤𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐎𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲

Jill Elizabeth Malnoske Sinclair died peacefully at Tranquility Hospice in Marietta after a brief illness on August 25, 2026. She was the only child of Vincent John Malnoske (ne Malnoski) and Elizabeth Greene Malnoske and was born in Glendale, California on May 4th, 1942. Her family was transferred in 1948 to Marietta, Georgia by Lockheed Aircraft Corporation and she lived within a mile of the Marietta Square for her entire life. She graduated as Salutatorian of the Class of 1960 from Marietta High School where she was an excellent student as well as an athlete, playing on the Varsity Basketball Team. She was a member of the Tri-Hi-Y Club, FHA, Jr. Civitan, Beta Club, Science Club and M Club. Her Senior Superlative was Most Intellectual.

She attended Northwestern University in Chicago for 2 years before transferring to the University of Georgia in Athens where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in Mathematics.

After graduation from UGA, she was hired by Lockheed Georgia in Marietta where she had a long and distinguished career, working primarily on the C-130J Aircraft. Her work at Lockheed took her to England, Israel, Australia and South Korea and she developed a love of travel and enjoyed it her entire life.

Jill was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marietta and a member of the John Strother Sunday School Class.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was loved dearly by her extended family. She is remembered for her fierce intelligence, a quick sense of humor and a drive to live her life to the fullest. She was an accomplished artist in oils and watercolors, enjoyed tennis, was a Master Gardner, antique collecting and fly fishing. She loved America's National Parks with a particular fondness for Arizona and the Western States.

She is predeceased by her parents. Survivors include her sons, Johnny Sinclair (Mark Browne), David Sinclair (Erin), grandson Henry Sinclair and granddaughter Kate Sinclair, all of Marietta. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

Services will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, August 31st, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church of Marietta with Dr. Joe Evans and Dr. Sam Matthews officiating. There will be a reception for friends and family immediately following the service at the Church.

It's nice to celebrate some living history, Lou Jean Arrants has celebrated her 100th birthday!

More than 75 family members and friends gathered to share in Lou Jean’s special day. One hundred years is a lifelong legacy of love worth celebrating! That legacy was built by Lou Jean and Bob Arrants through hard work and sacrifice, through good times and hard times, and through the values they taught their family by the way they lived their own lives.

Together, Lou Jean and Bob Arrants created a close-knit family that includes three children, Steve Arrants and wife Donna, Mike Arrants and wife Sheila, and Jan Matthews and husband Brett, twelve grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Originally from Tennessee, Bob & Lou Jean moved to Marietta in 1960. They were longtime members and volunteers at Marietta First United Methodist Church. Bob owned and operated a local home building company and was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club, and Lou Jean is a homemaker and served on the Altar Guild helping make the beautiful needlepoint kneelers at Marietta FUMC. They were married almost 70 years at the time of Bob‘s passing in 2020. Lou Jean has remained active with her children and grandchildren. She loves to read, study genealogy, do jigsaw puzzles, and still enjoys her daily needlework and cross-stitch.

𝐀𝐧𝐧 𝐌𝐜𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐧 𝐎𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲

Ann McConnell Corn, 92, passed away on August 11th. A lifelong resident of Marietta, she graduated from Marietta High School in 1951. She later attended the University of Georgia, where she met her husband, Jack. Together, they raised three children and celebrated 69 years of marriage.

Ann had an eye for fashion and a love of decorating, but hosting family gatherings with all her grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. She especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and several beloved dogs over the years. Ann and Jack took wonderful trips throughout their lives, but their winters in Cocoa Beach, Florida, were special. She spent her later years at Sterling Estates of West Cobb.

Ann is survived by her children Dana Crissey (Mark), Bill Corn (Treville), and Beth Scott (David); her grandchildren, Jaclyn Wood (Zack), Stephanie George (Noah), Jackson Corn (Nicole), Marilyn Lester (Lamar), and Mary Beth Fahsel (Michael); and her great-grandchildren, Lucy and Esther George, Charlie and Dean Wood, Brooke Lester, and West and Hank Fahsel.

She was predeceased by her parents, Clyde and Louise McConnell; her husband, Jack Corn; and her granddaughter, Taylor Scott.

A private graveside service was held on Saturday August 22nd. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to either Calvary Children’s Home or Cancer Research Institute.
