If you've been hinting to mom or dad that they could use some help around the house and getting nowhere... you're not the only one.
Here's what we've seen work better than asking outright: "I want to make sure you can stay in this house as long as possible."

Three things happen when you lead with that.

One, you're on the same team instead of opposite sides of the table.

Two, you've named what they're actually scared of (losing the house, losing independence) before they have to.

Three, "help" stops being something they need and becomes something that protects what they love.

It's not magic. But it's a better starting line than "Dad, we need to talk."
