🚨 RINGING IN YOUR EAR + A STIFF, TIGHT NECK? DON’T IGNORE THE CONNECTION. 🚨

If your ears are ringing but your hearing tests look normal—and you ALSO have neck stiffness, headaches, jaw clicking, or clenching—there may be more to the story than your ears alone. 👂⚡

Your neck, jaw, and nervous system work together. Changes in posture, muscle tension, TMJ mechanics, and irritation of structures around the upper cervical spine can sometimes contribute to somatic/cervicogenic tinnitus.

🧠 HERE’S THE CONNECTION:

➡️ Forward-head posture can increase the workload on the muscles surrounding your neck and jaw.
➡️ Tight upper-cervical and jaw muscles can alter how your TMJ moves.
➡️ Sensory input from the neck and jaw can interact with the brain’s processing of sound.
➡️ For some people, addressing these mechanical factors may help reduce the intensity of tinnitus symptoms.

⚠️ BUT HERE’S THE IMPORTANT PART:
Not all tinnitus comes from the neck or jaw. Tinnitus can have many causes, and persistent or sudden symptoms deserve appropriate medical evaluation especially sudden hearing loss, one-sided tinnitus, pulsatile tinnitus, dizziness, or neurological symptoms.

Instead of simply chasing the noise, let’s look at the whole picture. 🔎

At Heal Better Feel Better Family Chiropractic, I evaluate the relationship between your cervical spine, posture, muscles, and jaw mechanics and determine whether musculoskeletal factors may be contributing to your symptoms.

🚨 SHOULDER PAIN + THUMB NUMBNESS? STOP BLAMING YOUR TRAP. 🚨

If you sit at a desk all day and deal with a burning ache in your neck/shoulder that travels down your arm into your thumb, stretching your trapezius over and over may not be addressing the real problem.

👉 The issue may be coming from your cervical spine—not just a “tight muscle.”

When your head consistently drifts forward, the muscles and joints of your neck have to work harder to support it. Over time, this can contribute to altered cervical mechanics and irritation of the nerves exiting the spine.

⚡ One possible culprit? The C6 nerve root.

When irritated, C6-related symptoms can include:
• Neck and shoulder pain
• Pain or tingling traveling down the arm
• Numbness/tingling toward the thumb
• Muscle weakness in certain movements
• Tight, protective muscles around the neck and shoulder

And here's the important part:

🚫 Don't automatically attack the tight muscle.

That tight trapezius may be reacting to an underlying problem rather than being the primary cause.

Instead, your evaluation should look at the neck, posture, joint mobility, nerve involvement, muscle function, and movement patterns as a whole.

🧠 The goal isn't simply to stretch harder. It's to figure out WHY the area is irritated.

If you're experiencing persistent numbness, weakness, or radiating arm pain, don't ignore it. Get the source properly evaluated.

🧠⚡ CAN YOU GET THIS ONE RIGHT?

🩻 LUMBAR DISC HERNIATION QUIZ

A patient has an L4–L5 posterolateral disc herniation.

Which finding would you MOST likely expect? 👇

A️⃣ Decreased Achilles tendon reflex
B️⃣ Decreased patellar tendon reflex
C️⃣ Weak ankle plantar flexion
D️⃣ Decreased sensation over the top of the foot

🤔 LOCK IN YOUR ANSWER BEFORE YOU SCROLL!

👇👇👇

✅ CORRECT ANSWER: D️⃣

Decreased sensation over the dorsum (top) of the foot

Why? An L4–L5 disc herniation typically affects the traversing L5 nerve root.

L5 radiculopathy can cause sensory changes along the top of the foot, especially toward the great toe. ⚡🦶

The other answers are more commonly associated with different nerve roots:
🔹 Patellar reflex → L4
🔹 Achilles reflex → S1
🔹 Plantar flexion → primarily S1

💡 Bottom line: Know your disc levels + nerve roots! Your symptoms can provide important clues about where the problem may be coming from.

🚨 YOUR SHRUGS MIGHT BE TRAINING YOUR NECK MORE THAN YOUR TRAPS.

🏋️‍♀️ Looking at the ceiling while doing heavy shrugs? STOP.

Cranking your neck backward under heavy load can add unnecessary stress to your neck and muscles.

🔥 THE NECK-STRAIN TRAP

Heavy weight + neck extension + shoulder elevation can lead to:

⚠️ Neck stiffness
🤕 Headaches at the base of the skull
🔒 Tight, painful traps
↔️ Difficulty turning your head

🛑 3 SIGNS YOUR FORM NEEDS A CHECK:

👀 Chin pointed at the ceiling
🤕 Headache immediately after trap day
🔒 Neck feels locked up for days

✅ FIX IT:
Keep your head neutral. 👁️ Look straight ahead, gently tuck your chin, and drive your shoulders up under control.

🎯 Train your traps—not your neck.

And if you read this and thought… 😬 “Well, I’m definitely guilty of at least 2 of those…”

😂 Don’t worry—I’m not here to judge your shrug form. I’m here to help fix what your gym session may have messed up! 🦴💪

🚨 YOUR SCIATICA MAY NOT BE “JUST A TIGHT MUSCLE.” 🚨

🔥 If pain shoots from your lower back into your buttock, hip, or leg… STOP scrolling.

Because if you’ve been stretching, taking medication, getting treatments—and the pain keeps coming back—you may be treating the symptom instead of figuring out what’s irritating the nerve. ⚡🦵

Think about it…

❌ You stretch → relief… then the pain returns.
❌ You rest → it feels better… until you start moving again.
❌ Medication → the pain decreases… until it wears off.
❌ Treatment → you feel looser… but the symptoms come back.

Sound familiar?

Here’s what many people don’t realize:

👉 Sciatica is a symptom—not a diagnosis of one single problem.

Nerve irritation can involve the lower back, discs, joints, surrounding muscles, inflammation, movement patterns, or a combination of factors. 🧩

That’s why there isn't a one-size-fits-all solution.

And NO—you didn’t necessarily “fail” treatment.

You may simply need a better understanding of what is actually contributing to YOUR symptoms.

🚨 The biggest mistake? Treating every case of sciatica exactly the same.

At Heal Better Feel Better Family Chiropractic, I look beyond simply chasing pain.

I evaluate your symptoms, spinal function, movement, and overall presentation to determine whether chiropractic care may be appropriate for you—and create a personalized plan based on what we find. 💪

⚡ Burning?
⚡ Numbness or tingling?
⚡ Pain into the buttock or leg?
⚡ Difficulty sitting, walking, sleeping, or exercising?

Don’t just keep stretching and hoping it goes away.

🚨 STOP SCROLLING—YOUR “HIP PAIN” MIGHT NOT BE A HIP PROBLEM.
⚡ YOUR “LEG PAIN” MIGHT NOT EVEN START IN YOUR LEG.

Read that again. 👀

One of the biggest mistakes people make with nerve-type pain is assuming the place that hurts is where the problem begins.

🔥 Burning between your shoulder blades?
⚡ Electric pain shooting down your arm?
🦵 Pain traveling from your low back into your buttock and leg?
🖐️ Tingling or numbness in your fingers?
🦶 Burning or pins-and-needles in your feet?

Your nervous system can create symptoms that travel far beyond the area where the irritation originates.

And this is why simply rubbing, stretching, or repeatedly treating the painful spot may not address the whole picture. 🛑

Certain patterns of pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness can be associated with irritation or compression of spinal nerves.

The real question isn't:

❌ “Where does it hurt?”

It’s:

✅ “WHY does it hurt there?”

🧠 Don’t just chase the symptom. Investigate the source.

If you're experiencing persistent shooting pain, burning, numbness, or tingling, an evaluation may help determine what could be contributing to your symptoms.

🦵🔥 Lower Hip Pain, Back of Thigh Pain & Burning Legs After Sitting: Could Your Spine Be the Cause? 🛑👇✅

Pain that begins in the lower hip (buttock or outer hip) and travels into the back of the thigh can make walking, climbing stairs, exercising, and even sitting uncomfortable. Some people notice their pain worsens when taking a long stride, standing on their toes, or turning the foot outward, while others develop a burning or hot sensation in their legs after sitting for a long time.

These symptoms can have several causes. They may originate from the hip joint, muscles and tendons around the pelvis, the sacroiliac (SI) joint, or the lumbar spine, where nerves travel from the lower back into the leg.

🧠 Possible Causes Include:
✅ Piriformis Syndrome
✅ Lumbar Radiculopathy (Sciatica)
✅ Proximal Hamstring Tendinopathy
✅ Hip Joint Dysfunction
✅ Sacroiliac (SI) Joint Dysfunction
✅ Gluteal Muscle Injury

⚡ Why Does a Long Stride Hurt?
A longer stride stretches the hamstrings, hip flexors, gluteal muscles, sciatic nerve, and hip capsule. If one of these structures is irritated, increasing your stride length can reproduce pain.

👣 Why Does Toe Walking Cause Pain?
Walking or standing on your toes places more stress on the calf muscles, hamstrings, gluteal muscles, and sciatic nerve. Pain during this movement may suggest muscle or nerve involvement.

↪ Why Does Turning the Foot Outward Hurt?
Externally rotating the foot changes the mechanics of the hip and pelvis and may irritate the hip joint, gluteal tendons, piriformis muscle, or SI joint.

🔥 Why Do Your Legs Feel Hot or Burn After Sitting?
A burning sensation after prolonged sitting may occur due to:
✔️ Sciatic nerve irritation
✔️ Hamstring tendon compression
✔️ Piriformis muscle tension
✔️ Temporary nerve sensitivity from prolonged sitting

🚩 Symptoms That May Suggest Nerve Involvement:
⚡ Burning pain
⚡ Tingling
⚡ Numbness
⚡ Electric shock sensations
⚡ Pain traveling below the knee
⚡ Muscle weakness

💪 Simple Habits That May Help
🚶 Walk regularly and avoid prolonged sitting.
🧘 Perform gentle hamstring and piriformis stretches.
🌉 Strengthen your glutes and core.
🪑 Change positions every 30–45 minutes.
👟 Wear supportive footwear and warm up before activity.
