✨PERIMENOPAUSE MYTHS WE NEED TO STOP BELIEVING
Perimenopause can begin years before your final menstrual period, and it can look very different from woman to woman.
🚫 MYTH #1: “Perimenopause only affects women in their 40s.”
Not necessarily. Some women begin experiencing hormonal changes much earlier.
🚫 MYTH #2: “If I’m still having periods, my hormones are fine.”
You can still have regular—or somewhat regular—cycles while experiencing significant hormonal fluctuations.
🚫 MYTH #3: “Hot flashes are the only sign.”
Not at all. Symptoms can include:
• Sleep changes
• Fatigue
• Anxiety or mood changes
• Brain fog
• Weight or body-composition changes
• Low libido
• Headaches
• Irregular or heavier periods
• Palpitations
• Joint aches
• Changes in skin and hair
🚫 MYTH #4: “It’s just stress.”
Stress can absolutely affect how you feel, but hormonal changes can also contribute to many of these symptoms.
🚫 MYTH #5: “My labs are normal, so my hormones can't be the problem.”
Hormones fluctuate significantly during perimenopause. One lab value is only one piece of the puzzle. Your symptoms, cycle history, medications, lifestyle, sleep, nutrition, and overall health matter too.
🌱 At Hays Rooted Wellness, we believe women deserve more than “that's just aging.”
