Chef Matthew Weyrick made a big splash last year raising funds for Meals on Wheels, and he’s ready to do it again! When he’s not cooking up donations, Matt is caring for patients as a Radiology Tech at Marion Health, or at home gardening, canning, cooking, and spending time with his wife and two young daughters. Meals on Wheels has been serving our community for over four decades, providing nutritious, affordable meals to residents who need them most. Join Matt in supporting this incredible mission.

With the goal of continuous improvement to provide the highest level of care to patients, the Marion Health Auxiliary has purchased and donated an emergency Chase/Command Vehicle to assist Marion Health EMS in emergency situations.
The vehicle is a custom-built and mission-specific SUV that will be used in a variety of ways as an extension of the primary ambulance and to assist personnel with the care needed at the site of an emergency situation.

It was a record-setting day when Marion Health held a free stuffed animal clinic for children at the Family Medicine Residency Clinic on Saturday, September 19.
More than 100 children brought in their favorite stuffed animal for a check-up from our caring and compassionate staff. Their furry friends received the comprehensive Marion Health medical experience! They each got a wristband and a special passport that guided them through each of many exciting stations, including medical history, check-up, X-ray, and surgery. There were also wellness stations for kids to learn healthy habits to stay strong, including physical activity and exercise, healthy nutrition, the importance of being smoke-free, and staying safe in the sun.

Marion Health is honored to be named United Way of Grant County’s Community Partner of the Year!

At the Day of Action Kick-Off Luncheon on Friday, September 18, Executive Director LeeAnna Smith recognized Marion Health for successfully enrolling area children in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. When a baby is born at Marion Health, we enroll them in this program to have a new, age-appropriate book delivered to their home each month.

We’re proud to partner with United Way of Grant County to help put books in the hands of children throughout our community and encourage a lifelong love of reading. Since the program's inception in 2023, more than 71,000 books have been distributed to children in Grant County.

Sepsis is one of the world’s most urgent health challenges. It affects millions of people every year and is associated with 1 in 5 deaths worldwide. Yet sepsis remains under-recognized, under-prioritized, and underfunded.

We can prevent infections. We can recognize sepsis earlier. We can strengthen healthcare systems. We can train healthcare professionals. We can develop better diagnostics and treatments.

Marion Health invites children age 12 and younger to bring their favorite stuffed animal in for a free "check-up" at our Family Medicine Residency Clinic, located at 1411 W. Bella Dr., on Saturday, September 19, between 10 a.m. and noon. Kids will register their stuffed animal at the clinic and receive a wrist band. Children and their families will then move through different stations to fill out their stuffed animal's medical history, receive a "check-up," get an "x-ray," have "surgery," and then move on to wellness stations. They will be given a passport to help them navigate to each station. Children will also learn healthy habits for life, including guidelines on physical activity, nutrition, and the importance of being smoke-free. Other stations will allow kids to create a bracelet for their stuffed animal, color a picture frame, and take a picture with their stuffed animal. Balloons and other goodies will also be handed out at the event.

We remember. We will never forget.
It was 25 years ago, September 11, 2001, when our nation changed forever. We remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the extraordinary courage shown by those who ran into the danger while others ran to safety.
We here at Marion Health remember the police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, nurses, physicians, emergency department staff, and countless other first responders and healthcare professionals who answered the call that day, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.
We know that courage exists everywhere, including communities like ours. It can be found in the dispatcher answering the call, the first responder to the scene, the paramedic rushing to the emergency, the nurse caring for the critically ill patient, the physician making a difficult decision, and every healthcare professional who shows up ready to serve their neighbors.
To those who dedicate their lives to caring for and protecting others, we see you, appreciate you, and we thank you.
To young people who may be considering a career in healthcare, emergency services, public safety, or other professions dedicated to helping others, there is always a place for you. Your community needs people willing to serve, lead, care, and make a difference.
Today, 25 years later, we remember the heroes of 9/11. We honor their legacy by continuing to care for one another.
