Taking care of your heart starts with knowing a little about your health, including your cholesterol. Too much cholesterol in your blood can build up in your arteries and raise your risk of heart disease and stroke. High cholesterol often has no symptoms, so you may not know you have it without a blood test.

The good news is that small daily habits can help manage cholesterol levels. Eating more heart-healthy foods, staying active, and taking medicine as directed can all help keep cholesterol at a healthy level.
