PROTECT YOUR EYES/ECLIPSE INFO: A little late for today’s cloudy event but a very good article to review before next year’s big event in our area. Just like 2017, there’s a lot of false information on eye safety being passed around along with plenty of counterfeit solar glasses sold through mass merchandisers that don’t specialize in astronomy, eye care, etc.

Buying new eclipse-viewing glasses is always a safer bet because materials in the glasses' filters break down.

PROTECT YOUR EYES: I’m seeing a lot of false information being passed around with today’s solar eclipse. Before next year’s big event it is time to review how to find safe filters and to avoid unsafe counterfeits and those with fake NASA endorsement claims. Even safe ones are inexpensive if purchased correctly! Shop smart….solar retinopathy can lead to permanent vision damage/loss.
