🎉 Birthday celebrations are always better with friends!🎂💙

We had such a fun time celebrating our monthly birthdays at Golden Years with our wonderful friends from Blue Ridge Baptist Church! Our residents enjoyed plenty of laughs while playing Win, Lose or Draw and, of course, celebrating our birthday honorees! 🎨🥳

We’re so thankful for Blue Ridge Baptist Church and the time, love, and joy they continue to share with our residents. It’s visits like these that make Golden Years feel a little more like home. ❤️

🏡❤️ What makes a house a home?

We think it’s the people inside.

It’s the familiar faces you see every morning. The conversations over a cup of coffee. The laughter coming from down the hall. It’s having someone who knows how you like your coffee, remembers your favorite story, and notices when you need a little extra encouragement.

At Golden Years, we’re more than a place to receive care, we’re a community of residents, families, and team members who become a little bit like family along the way.

🌟 Golden Years Employee Spotlight: Darrell Scott 🌟

This week, we’re excited to spotlight Darrell Scott, our Housekeeping Supervisor!

Darrell brings an incredible 44 years of experience in healthcare to the Golden Years team and has been with us for the past two months. Originally from Waco, Darrell is a proud husband, father of six, and grandfather to an amazing 22 grandchildren!

What Darrell enjoys most about Golden Years is the atmosphere. He says it feels cozy, comfortable, and easygoing, and he enjoys the relationships he’s building with both our residents and staff.

When he’s not at work, you can find Darrell horseback riding, traveling, fishing, or enjoying the excitement of the drag races! 🐎🎣🏁

We’re grateful to have Darrell’s many years of healthcare experience and dedication as part of our Golden Years family. Help us give Darrell a warm welcome and show him some love in the comments! 💛

🌟 Golden Years Employee Spotlight: Judy Rockholt 🌟

This week we're excited to recognize Judy Rockholt, a valued member of our Dietary team!

Judy has called Falls County home for more than 30 years and is currently in her second chapter with Golden Years, having been back with us for a little over two years. She and her husband were remarried last April, and together they enjoy spending time with their blended family, which includes two older children, 22-year-old twins, and a stepdaughter.

When asked what she loves most about Golden Years, Judy shared:

"I love what I do. Being able to help others means everything to me, and our residents and coworkers have truly become an extended family."

That sense of family became even more meaningful after Judy and her husband lost their home on June 1, 2025. She shared how overwhelmed she was by the compassion shown by the Golden Years family.

"Everyone was thoughtful, kind, and considerate in helping me cope. The fundraiser and donations from not only my coworkers but our residents as well meant more than words can express. Their generosity and kindness are something I will treasure always."

Judy, thank you for your servant's heart, your dedication to our residents, and the kindness you show every day. We are grateful to have you as part of the Golden Years family! 💙

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Cindy Slovacek 🌟

This week, we're proud to recognize Cindy Slovacek, whose dedication and compassion have made a lasting impact at Golden Years for nearly three decades!

Cindy graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch and has devoted the past 30 years to caring for others through long-term care and home health. For the last 28 years, she has called Golden Years home, bringing experience, leadership, and a genuine passion for serving our residents every single day.

When asked what she loves most about Golden Years, Cindy shared:

"Golden Years is a strong workplace family where we celebrate wins and navigate challenges together. We work together as a team."

Outside of work, Cindy has been blessed with a wonderful family. She and her husband, Jeff, are proud parents to their daughter, Morgan (30), and their son, Easton (24).

Cindy believes that "the wealthiest thing a person can have is their health and the love of God." It's a philosophy she lives by and one that shines through in the compassion and care she gives to everyone around her.

Thank you, Cindy, for your incredible 28 years of dedication, servant's heart, and unwavering commitment to our residents, families, and team. Golden Years is a better place because of you, and we are so grateful to have you as part of our family. 💙

Nothing brings people together quite like a good breakfast and great company!

This morning, the Golden Years team enjoyed our monthly breakfast at the Marlin Senior Center. We are grateful for the opportunity to share a meal, laughter, and meaningful conversations with so many wonderful seniors in our community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the morning so special. We are already looking forward to next month's breakfast!

What a fantastic afternoon at our Golden Years Community Bingo! 💙

The room was full of laughter, friendly competition, and smiling faces as our community came together for an afternoon of fun. Congratulations to all of our lucky winners, including our exciting $100 blackout winner!
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event such a success. We love creating opportunities for our residents, families, and community members to connect, make memories, and enjoy time together.
