The MJ Mazeeee as we like to call it. We moved into our Marlton location in Fall of 2017 and expanded into the suite next door in Summer of 2022.

When a child presses buttons on their AAC device over and over, it’s not misuse… it’s exploration, motor planning, and sometimes just how they process language (just like a toddler babbling before their first words).
Taking the device away as a consequence doesn’t teach “appropriate” use. It teaches that communication itself can be taken away. Would we ever take away a speaking child’s mouth for talking “too much”?

AAC is not a privilege to be earned. It’s access to voice. 🗣️

YOU are your child’s biggest advocate.

No question is dumb or too small. The more active you are in your child’s care and the more knowledgeable you are about how to help your child, the more progress you will see in your child. And that is what it is all about.

Ask all of the questions, always.

Meet Shanna, Melissa’s sister! Two days a week, Shanna comes into the office and the whole place lights up. She's our go-to for marketing bags, laminating, cutting, and keeping things clean and organized and honestly, we don't know how we'd get it all done without her!

"If we give them a device, won't that impact their speech?" This is the question we hear most from parents when AAC is recommended.

As moms, we know that every parent just wants what is best for their kids. We want to support them and see them succeed. Exposing them to things that are different than what we know and have experienced ourselves can be scary.

But the research doesn't support the fear. Study after study shows kids who use AAC talk as much or more over time, not less. Communication access doesn't compete with speech. It supports it. đź’¬
