We're excited to share a project that started right here in the UP and now has the potential to improve patient care across the country.

Marquette Medical partnered with FeminEM as the pilot site for the development of the new Medication Abortion Toolkit—a practical, evidence-based resource designed to help urgent care clinics confidently provide medication abortion care.

Marquette Medical was not developed with this goal in mind, but we have always been about listening to our community, identifying gaps in healthcare, and ensuring patients have access to safe, compassionate, high-quality medical care close to home. When Planned Parenthood closed its doors, we stepped up. This resource takes it beyond Marquette and helps all communities keep care safe and accessible.

We're honored that our team's experience helped shape a resource that will support healthcare providers nationwide and expand access to best practices in reproductive healthcare.

We believe every woman deserves to make her own healthcare decisions with the guidance of an informed, compassionate medical team. Our commitment is simple: provide accurate information, exceptional medical care, and unwavering respect for our patients.

**4TH OF JULY PARADE ROUTE NOTIFICATION**

Please note that Washington St will be closed starting at 11am on Saturday, July 4th, and will reopen after the parade is complete (estimated 3pm). There will be no vehicle travel in and out of the urgent care parking lot during that time, but the clinic will remain open. Our lobby also has air conditioning for anyone in the area having issues with the heat!

Medical Billing & Coding Specialist

Marquette Medical is seeking a full-time, detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing & Coding Specialist to join our growing healthcare team. This position is responsible for accurate coding, claim submission, payment posting, denial management, insurance follow-up, and revenue cycle support for our outpatient clinical services.
The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in outpatient medical billing and coding, strong knowledge of insurance regulations and reimbursement methodologies, and a commitment to supporting high-quality patient care through efficient revenue cycle management.

Qualifications & Educational Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in outpatient medical billing and coding
Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
Experience working with commercial insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid, and workers' compensation claims
Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent certification
Experience in urgent care, family medicine, primary care, or specialty outpatient settings
Experience with denial management and revenue cycle optimization
Familiarity with eClinicalWorks (eCW) or similar EHR systems

Compensation & Benefits

Mifepristone is an essential medication for reproductive health. Recently, access to this medication by mail for virtual care has faced uncertainty—at times restricted, then restored, and still very much in flux.

This instability disproportionately impacts women in rural communities like Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where access to timely care can already be limited.

We want to reassure our patients: whether you are being seen for first-trimester miscarriage, elective abortion, or any other healthcare need, we are here for you. Our team remains committed to providing care with dignity, compassion, and reliable in-person access when you need it most.
