Our modern facilities and dedicated team strive to make every family feel at home, offering comfort and support during their time of need. Welcome to the Anderson Funeral Homes page. My wife Amy and I are excited to announce we have purchased well established funeral homes in the area. The Pursel-Davis Funeral Home and Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Homes in Marshalltown along with the Johnsto

n Funeral Home in Conrad and the Goettsch Perrin Funeral Home in Gladbrook will all now be known as the Anderson Funeral Homes. The Marshalltown location will be designated as the Main Street Chapel. The Johnston Funeral Home and Goetsch-Perrin Funeral Home will be designated as the Conrad Chapel and Gladbrook Chapel. One family, locally owned, serving you with the same personal, professional & caring services the previous owners did for well over the last 100 years. With my purchase of the funeral homes, the Anderson Funeral Homes now becomes the only Veteran owned Funeral Home in the area. While serving our country during Desert Storm in the U.S. Army I learned the meaning of loyalty and dedication. It is this loyalty and dedication that drives me daily to provide the best service possible to our families.

Life is short, and it can change in an instant.

One phone call.
One diagnosis.
One unexpected medical emergency.

Truth is, none of us are promised tomorrow.

So hug your people tighter. Tell them you love them more often. Be grateful for ordinary moments.

The we're praying for might already be sitting in front of us.

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day Weekend. I want to take a moment to remind everyone of the flower rules at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The picture posted here is an example of the proper placement of flowers on a grave. Flowers need to be placed in the attached vase as shown. With that said you are allowed to place additional items around the monument for 10 days surrounding Memorial Day. The last day for those items in May 31st. On June 1st we will be removing all items around the monuments that are not in the vase. Initially we will not be throwing away these items. We will have a designated area where we will place them by the building located on the west side of the grounds. You may claim those items there. Thank you for helping us follow the rules that are in place.

Obviously by now everyone is aware RAGBRAI is coming through Marshalltown. I know a lot of businesses have an “M” on their property from a previous fundraiser. The “M” statues in Marshalltown reminds me of driving into Iowa City or Ames and seeing all the Herky’s and Cy’s painted with different themes. As I drive around Marshalltown I see a lot of “M’s” that could use a fresh paint upgrade. I challenge any business that has an “M” to consider a RAGBRAI theme paint refresh. This would definitely support what a privilege it is to host RAGBRAI as an overnight town. As a previous rider of many RAGBRAI’s the amount of people stopping by the “M’s” will surprise you. Thanks for your consideration. Messy Missy’s painted ours. If you need her contact info just reach out to us at the Funeral Home. She gave us permission to give out her info. If anyone decides to do this I would encourage you to have Marshalltown, IA and 2026 somewhere on your “M”. Fun Fact… 2004 was my very first RAGBRAI and Marshalltown was an overnight host town. Had no idea back then we would eventually call Marshalltown home. Let’s do this!!

"This is the day we pay homage to all those who didn't come home. This is not Veterans Day, it's not a celebration, it is a day of solemn contemplation over the cost of freedom."

A funeral or memorial service is an important step in finding closure after a loss.
Even if services are delayed or cremation has taken place, families can still gather at any time to remember, reflect, and say goodbye in a meaningful way.
