Real Neuropathy Treatment Success

Perhaps the most frustrating, but real issue surrounding patients, who suffer from peripheral neuropathy and indeed many types of chronic pain, is that more often than not, there are multiple underlying causes.

As you probably know, life tends to be in accumulation of experiences, unfortunately sometimes including trauma and illnesses.

All of these things have consequences, some of which will not show up for many years. You probably also know that things that are very easy to ignore at 25, now become impossible to ignore at 65 and beyond.

One of the things that concerns me while treating many neuropathy patients is when clinicians and patients focus exclusively trying to find the โ€œoneโ€ cause of their pain, burning, tingling numbness or other neuropathy symptoms.

The reason for this is quite simple. Most commonly, patients develop peripheral neuropathy as the result of multiple factors.

Although generally safe and well-tolerated, omega-3 fatty acid risks and potential side effects are handled in this article.

Belly Problems:
Diarrhea, gas, indigestion, and nausea when taking omega-3 supplements. This is much more common with capsules than liquids. These effects can be often be reduced by taking with food, using a professional formulation or reducing dosage.

Bleeding and blood thinning:
Omega-3 fatty acids have a slight blood-thinning effect.
While this is generally beneficial for cardiovascular health, it can increase the risk of bleeding, especially in people taking blood-thinning drugs such as warfarin and aspirin.

If you have a blood clotting disorder or are taking blood thinners, it is important to consult your doctor before starting omega-3 fatty acids.

Chronic pain and peripheral neuropathy are rarely one-dimensional problems. Effective care often requires addressing nerve function, circulation, inflammation, mobility, metabolic health, and the underlying causeโ€”not simply suppressing symptoms.

Multiwavelength infrared therapy, also called photobiomodulation, uses selected red and near-infrared wavelengths to deliver light energy to tissues at different depths. Depending on the equipment and treatment parameters, this therapy may help:

Temporarily reduce pain and discomfort
Support local circulation
Decrease inflammation
Promote cellular energy production
Support tissue healing and recovery
Improve comfort during movement and rehabilitation

Research into photobiomodulation for diabetic peripheral neuropathy is promising, with some studies reporting improvements in neuropathic pain and aspects of nerve function. However, treatment protocols vary considerably, and stronger research is still needed to determine which wavelengths, dosages, and treatment schedules provide the greatest benefit. It should not be presented as a cure or guaranteed method of nerve regeneration. Review the systematic review on PubMed.

Warning Signs of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI): What to Watch For

As we age, occasional forgetfulness can be normal. But when memory issues begin to interfere with daily life, it could be more than just โ€œsenior moments.โ€ One possible cause is Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), a condition that affects memory and thinking skills but doesnโ€™t yet interfere significantly with daily function.

What Is MCI?

MCI is often considered a transitional stage between normal aging and more serious conditions like Alzheimerโ€™s disease. While not everyone with MCI progresses to dementia, identifying it early offers the best chance for slowing progression and improving quality of life.

Early Action Matters

The earlier MCI is identified, the better the chances for preserving brain health through lifestyle changes, cognitive exercises, and in some cases, medical interventions. Regular cognitive screening after age 60 is a proactive step toward healthy aging.

Call to Action: If youโ€™re concerned about memory changes, donโ€™t wait. Book a cognitive wellness screening this month and take control of your brain health.
