Mr. Jerry Bolt Helms, 78, of Marshville passed away June 3, 2026, at the Hospice House in Monroe. Born April 10, 1948, in Union County, NC, he was the son of the late James Derward Helms and Lurlyne Thomas Helms.
Living in Marshville all his life, he was proud to work on the family farm. He was a retired electrician. He loved riding his motorcycles with his friends and his wife. Jerry was a devoted member of Harmony Community Church for over 25 years.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 3-5, June 7, 2026, at Morgan & Son Funeral Home. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Jerry will be 11 AM, Monday, June 8, 2026, at the funeral home. He will be privately laid to rest at Fountain Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with his parents.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 22 years, Martha Dawkins Helms; children, Tony Helms (Brenda) and Annette Helms; grandchildren Jake Helms (Hailey) and Andrew Helms; two great grandchildren and a bonus family with Janet Mills, Jamie Mills and Brandy Ann Mills; brother, Roger T. Helms.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials made to Ground 40 or House of Pearls – Wingate, via their websites.

Special thanks to Drs. Luke Farmer and Erica Rabold and staff at Hospice House in Monroe for their compassionate care. Thank you Mandy Horne for being Jerry’s home health care nurse.

Mrs. Lisa Madill Mullis, 66, of Marshville, passed away May 25, 2026, at her home. Born January 25, 1960, she was the daughter of Art and Nancy Madill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Mullis.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Lisa will be 2 PM, Saturday, June 6, 2026, from the chapel of Morgan & Son Funeral Home. Lisa will be laid to rest privately in Marshville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Those left to cherish the memory of Lisa include her parents Art and Nancy Madill; sisters, Vicki Madill and Rachel Adams (Richard); nephews, Trey, Jake, Haddon (Kaitlyn), Preston (Kloey), Oakley, Cale, Brian; niece, Shelby; grand-nephew, Jeffrey; grand-niece, Scottie; and numerous extended family members. Monroe - Mr. James “Jimmy” Wiesendanger, 61, passed away, Monday, May 25, 2026, at Monroe Rehabilitation, Born December 14, 1964, in Mecklenburg County he was the son of the late Fritz W. Wiesendanger and Betty Anne Griffin Wiesendanger.

Mr. Wiesendanger’s services will be private. He will be laid to rest at Marshville City Cemetery at a later date.

Lauren Hardy of Sweet Peas Pet Salon in Marshville has experienced a devastating loss. Her husband Andrew unexpectedly passed away on Sunday May 10th.
Lauren has four children ranging in age from 13 to 6 years old. There are some immediate needs that we as community can help with as they navigate through this incredibly sad time.

Mr. Michael “Mike” Arnold Benton, 71, of Marshville, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026, at his home. Born May 19, 1954, he was a son of the late Beeson and Maude Horne Benton. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Rita Diane Benton and a sister-in-law Paula Benton and brother-in-law, Mike Burris.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mike will be 11 AM, Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from Chapel of Morgan & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-10:45 at the funeral home.

Vivian Traywick Harris of Fort Mill, South Carolina, died on May 3, 2026, at Hospice House in Monroe after a long illness. She was born February 21, 1941, in Anson County, North Carolina to Joe Heath and Geraldine Edwards Traywick. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Parker G. Harris.
Vivian is survived by her brother Sherrill Heath Traywick (Ruby); sister, Dianne Cape (Murry); brother, Randy Gerald Traywick (Debbie); stepdaughter, Pam Morris. She also has 6 nieces and nephews, Shelley Traywick, Lorie Rollins (Jerry), Brian Traywick (Blaire), Eric Traywick (Marleen), Heath Traywick (Samatha) and Cody Traywick.
She received her Associates of Arts Degree from Wingate University, her Bachelor of Science from East Carolina University, and her Master of Science from Winthrop University. She spent 33 years at WBTV in Charlotte as a writer-producer and an on-air personality. She won numerous local, regional, state and national awards.
Vivian had a strong and outgoing personality. She loved growing up on a farm and being an active member of New Home Baptist Church where she is still a member. She loved to talk and never met a stranger. Her passions were her family and her beloved German Shepherds. She was an avid water skier and loved teaching her nieces and nephews how to ski.
Since she was a very little girl, she loved pretty clothes, especially shoes. She was an expert seamstress by the age of 14. From designer suits to evening gowns, she made hundreds of garments for herself and family members of all ages. She loved her house in the woods, decorating and filling it with various personal art projects and paintings.
Vivian enjoyed a busy, happy, and blessed life planned and guided by God. Her communication with God was constant with lots of “please, thank you, and sorry”.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Vivian will be 4 PM, Friday, May 8, 2026, from New Home Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 3-3:45 in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, it was Vivian’s wish that gifts be made to New Home Baptist Church or to Furever Angels Animal Rescue of Charlotte, via their web site, [email protected].

Mrs. Betty Jean Horne Gibson, 92, of Wingate, passed away Friday, May 1, 2026, at Hospice House in Monroe. Born June 15, 1933, in Anson County, she was the daughter of the late George Horne and Hattie Rushing Horne. She was also preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Gibson, sons, Robert Gibson and Billy Ray Gibson.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Betty will be Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from the graveside of Peachland City Cemetery with the family receiving friends following by the graveside.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Judy Evans (Junior); many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
