Entrepreneur Spotlight: Jenny Yates, Four Rivers Inc.

This week's Entrepreneur Spotlight features Jenny Yates, founder of Four Rivers Inc. in Martinsville, Virginia.

Jenny's entrepreneurial journey began with a calling to serve her community.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, following the tragic loss of two local teens to su***de, Jenny felt a deep responsibility as a therapist, mother, and community member to help meet the growing mental health needs of youth and families in the region. That experience inspired her to move beyond fear and pursue a dream she had long held of opening her own private practice.

Like many entrepreneurs, Jenny's journey has included both highs and lows. Just 45 days after opening her business, she lost her mother. While navigating grief, she also found strength and clarity in her purpose, balancing her own healing with caring for her clients and growing her practice.

When reflecting on the biggest lesson she has learned as a business owner, Jenny credits the relationships that helped her along the way. Through entrepreneurship programs, mentors, classmates, and community supporters, she found the encouragement and resources needed to grow both personally and professionally.

Four Rivers Counseling
Today, Four Rivers Inc. continues to expand its impact through Four Rivers Counseling and Four Rivers Holistic, with a vision of creating a group practice focused on supporting clients, providers, and the broader community.

Jenny's advice for aspiring entrepreneurs?

"Take your time, trust your instincts, and don't give up on your day dreams."

Thank you, Jenny, for your commitment to serving others and for helping make Southern Virginia a healthier, stronger community.
