BIG News.. We've officially launched robotic-assisted surgery at Sovah Health - Martinsville! 🤖✨

This new equipment for our general surgeons will provide greater precision during surgery, faster recovery, and fewer complications for patients. The robot, located tableside in the operating room, allows a surgeon's hand movements to be scaled, filtered, and translated into precise movements of micro-instruments at the surgical site.

Talk with your provider to see if you are a candidate for robotic-assisted surgery. Learn more here: https://www.sovahhealth.com/news/2026/08/27/sovah-health---martinsville-launches-new-surgical-robot

Liz Jorgenson, a Sovah Health – Martinsville employee who has worked in patient accounts for 18 years, became a patient herself when she began experiencing chest pain. She saw Dr. Bhogal, who conducted testing and identified a heart murmur. Despite treatment and exercises, Liz continued to feel tired and unwell, leading to further testing in the cath lab.

Cath lab nurses Randy and Travis performed a bubble test and noticed her pressure was off. Dr. Bhogal and the team referred Liz to Duke for further evaluation, where an echocardiogram and 3D imaging revealed a hole in her heart.

As a patient, Liz experienced firsthand the care provided by the team, saying, “I couldn’t ask for a better team of people to care for me.”
