👟💙 Kickoff: Rotary Club of Stuart CART Shoe Drive
Helping Alzheimer’s Research and families around the world
We’re excited to launch our CART Shoe Drive, running August 15 – October 15, and we’re inviting the entire community to join us in making a meaningful impact.
💡 What is CART?
CART — Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust — was founded in 1995 to prove that small donations can create big change. As the document explains:
“The premises of the project was to encourage Rotarians to donate all the spare change they had and prove that even small donations can add up to a significant level of support…”
Today, nearly 600 Rotary Clubs support CART, and 100% of donations go directly to Alzheimer’s research. Over $15 million has already been awarded to researchers working toward a cure.
👟 Where do the shoes go?
Through our partnership with Funds2Orgs, every pair of gently used or new shoes collected is sent to micro‑enterprise programs in developing countries, where they help families build sustainable income. As the agreement states:
“These shoes are shipped to over 20 countries for people who have no footwear available to them.”
Funds2Orgs purchases the shoes by the pound — $0.40 per pound — and 100% of those funds go straight to CART to support Alzheimer’s research.
📅 Collection Opportunities
We’ll be collecting shoes at:
Demolition Derby – August 29
Patrick County Agricultural Fair – September
Around town at participating businesses - Town of Stuart, Tony's Pizza & Pub and Patrick County Library.
Anytime between August 15 and October 15
🧡 How you can help
Bring us your:
Gently worn shoes
New shoes
Kids’ shoes
Sneakers, boots, sandals — all styles welcome
Every pair helps families abroad and fuels Alzheimer’s research here at home.
Let’s fill those collection boxes, support CART, and show what Patrick County can do when we come together.
