A incredible medical achievement occurred recently, and Ranken Jordan is a proud part of it! As a YPB, we’re immensely proud to be involved with and support an organization that changes lives and creates good in the world. We’re rooting for Hiyab and Wuhbto as they begin rehab with the incredible team at Ranken Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital, and experience the Care Beyond the Bedside mission!

This achievement isn’t possible without the partnership of the St. Louis medical community, so a massive congratulations to the extraordinary team at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital for a successful surgery, and to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis for supporting the twins family during this journey.

A global team led by SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO, affiliated with the Saint Louis University School of Medicine, successfully completed one of the most complex and rare pediatric care journeys in modern medicine: separating craniopagus (conjoined at the head) twins. This condition occurs in about 1 in 2.5 million live births, and accounts for only 2% to 6% of all conjoined twins.

This effort was made possible by a global partnership between World Pediatrics, Ranken Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital, and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, as well as Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis, and Lola Children’s Home and Ethiopian Airlines in the twins’ home country.

Hiyab and Wuhbto were born in Aksum, Ethiopia, connected at the head. Today, thanks to this partnership, they begin their next chapter as two separate girls as they continue their recovery under the care of Ranken Jordan and World Pediatrics. As their needs continue to evolve, the partnership of all these organizations and support surrounding them will continue. No single organization could have made this journey possible. Together, these partners transformed an extraordinary medical possibility into a real pathway to care.

Our 1st pickleball tournament was a success! ✅ Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to all the players, spectators, and organizers for coming out Saturday in support of this event.

We’d also like to give a big shout out to our event sponsors The Gellman Team, First Command, The McGinnis family, Brand Ave Media, Ready 2 Live Wellness, and Patient’s Choice Medical, as well as Chicken N Pickle for hosting! Together, we raised $4,500 for Ranken Jordan patients and their families, which we couldn’t have done without everyone’s generosity! ✨
