School Navigators help students build everyday coping skills, work through difficult emotions, behaviors, and situations, and connect with resources that support their well-being. They can also provide classroom support, connect families with community services, and help coordinate care that considers the needs of the whole family.

Back-to-school transitions can bring changes in mood, behavior, attendance, or engagement. As a parent or caregiver, you know your child best, and you do not have to figure out next steps alone.

Notice changes, check in with curiosity, partner with your child’s school, and ask about behavioral-health resources available to students. You do not have to wait until a concern becomes a crisis. Reach out, ask questions, and let your school help you find the right support.

Back-to-school transitions can be tough for some students. Parents and caregivers can help by simply asking questions and listening. Use everyday moments in the car, at dinner, or waiting in line to check in. Even a short conversation can help you understand how your student is doing.

Try asking what has been going well, what has been harder than expected, who they feel connected to at school, and what might help school feel easier right now.
