The Staggered Stance RDL might not be part of your regular workout routine, but it should be!
This exercise is a great way to build hip strength and power. In many sports, power is created by loading through the hips and driving force into the ground. Unfortunately, many people either don’t have access to this range of motion or aren’t strong enough to control it. That can limit performance and lead to other muscles compensating, which may contribute to aches and pains over time.
Here are some of the biggest benefits of the Staggered Stance RDL:
• Builds hip and lower body strength
• Strengthens the glutes and hamstrings
• Develops single-leg strength
• Improves balance and stability
• Increases single-leg force production
• Reinforces proper hip hinge mechanics
• May help reduce back and hip discomfort by improving movement quality
Give this exercise a try! The setup and technique can feel a little awkward at first, but once you master the movement you’ll quickly begin to see the benefits.
