The Blount County Genealogical and Historical Society is working on an article for the fall issue of The Blount Journal on the Blount County soldiers who lost their lives during the Korean War. One of the names listed on the memorial monument on the Blount County Courthouse front lawn is Ray F. Walker and no information has been found referencing any Korean War soldier from the area with that name. Any help in identifying this individual would be greatly appreciated. One other soldier, Sergeant Homer Ray Costner, is not listed on the courthouse monument, but will be covered in the journal article. If anyone knows of another Blount County soldier who died during the Korean War, please contact us so they can be included in our journal article.
