We’re building a new ACT team serving the Marshalltown area, and we’re hiring!

ACT stands for Assertive Community Treatment. This team brings treatment and practical support directly to adults living with serious and persistent mental illness, helping them manage their health, build daily living skills, and work toward the goals that matter to them.

We have opportunities in nursing, therapy, community support, employment support, peer support, psychiatric care, and team leadership.

We are excited to recognize Travis, our IT Manager, as our Prairie Award recipient!

During the month of August, Travis received a nomination recognizing his reliability, patience, and willingness to help, no matter how big or small the problem may be. Whether troubleshooting a complicated issue or simply helping with something that should probably be easier to figure out, Travis shows up without complaint and is always ready to find a solution.

His fun-loving personality and sense of humor have a way of turning frustrating moments into positive ones, often with plenty of laughs and jokes along the way. His nomination summed it up perfectly: “Travis is always there to save the day!”

Travis’s work truly brings Prairie Ridge’s values to life through the support, positivity, and dedication he brings to our team every day.

Congratulations, Travis, and thank you for everything you do to keep Prairie Ridge running and for making the inevitable IT frustrations a little more enjoyable along the way!

Help us congratulate Mara as our Prairie Award recipient for July!

Mara received nominations highlighting what an incredible advocate she is for the young people she serves. Her compassion, dedication, and genuine care shine through in everything she does. She takes the time to truly see each student, understand their needs, and make them feel supported, valued, and heard. Whether she’s going the extra mile to meet an individual student’s needs or passionately advocating for prevention and support in our schools, Mara leads with kindness, respect, and understanding. She recognizes that students facing behavioral challenges often need compassion rather than judgment. Her ability to build meaningful relationships, create safe spaces, and make a lasting difference in the lives of young people is truly inspiring.

September is both Recovery Month and Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, making it an especially meaningful time to recognize the power of hope, connection, compassion, and support.

At Prairie Ridge, our team has the privilege of walking alongside people from all walks of life, meeting them where they are, supporting them through challenges, and reminding them that recovery and hope are possible.

✂️ Last Thursday, August 27th, we gathered at our Mason City office for an official ribbon cutting to celebrate an exciting milestone for Prairie Ridge: the completion of our new building addition! ✂️

This new space represents more than additional square footage. The addition provides much-needed group rooms, giving us additional space to bring people together for treatment, support, and recovery services while continuing to meet the growing needs of the individuals and families we serve.

This expansion was made possible through an infrastructure grant through the Iowa Governor’s Office and Iowa Economic Development Authority, and we are incredibly grateful for the investment and support that helped make it a reality.

The day was made even more meaningful through our collaboration with the Addiction and Recovery Collaborative - UI ARC to bring The INTO LIGHT Project exhibit to Prairie Ridge. Through hand-drawn portraits and personal stories, INTO LIGHT honors individuals who have died from drug addiction, preserving their stories while helping change the conversation surrounding substance use and reduce stigma.

And today, as we begin Recovery Month, the stories shared through INTO LIGHT serve as a meaningful reminder of the people and families at the heart of why this work matters and why we continue working toward a future where recovery is possible and stigma has no place.

Thank you to the Greater Mason City Chamber of Commerce, Addiction and Recovery Collaborative – UI ARC, our staff, community partners, and everyone who helped make the day so special!
