Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church
It is with deeply saddened hearts that the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church family announces the passing of our beloved pastor, Pastor Robert E. Whitley, Sr.
For nearly 24 years, Pastor Whitley faithfully served as the shepherd of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Stanton, Tennessee. He was more than the man who stood behind the pulpit, he was a servant, counselor, encourager, prayer warrior, giver, and friend.
Throughout his ministry, Pastor Whitley was a beacon of love and service. He visited nursing homes and prayed for the sick, comforted grieving families, officiated weddings, baptized believers, opened the church to others, poured into our youth, supported those in need, and faithfully preached the Word of God. During his time at Good Hope, he had the blessing of watching children grow into adults and begin families of their own.
Pastor Whitley also had a heart for giving. Whether it was peas, sweet potatoes, or whatever needed; a helping hand, an encouraging word, or a prayer, he gave freely because he loved his church and his people.
He loved his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and the Good Hope Church family. But most importantly, Pastor Whitley loved the Lord. Even on his worst days, he found strength in the God he served.
Today, our hearts are heavy, but we are grateful to God for allowing us to call Pastor Robert E. Whitley, Sr. our pastor for nearly 24 years. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, the prayers he prayed, the sermons he preached, and the seeds he planted.
As our shepherd finishes his earthly assignment, we find comfort in the words of Matthew 25:21:
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
We ask that you keep the Whitley family and the entire Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church family lifted in prayer during this difficult time.
Rest well, Pastor Whitley. Thank you for nearly 24 years of loving, serving, praying for, and shepherding Good Hope. Your labor was not in vain.
