EMDR Videos 🎥✨

We’ve put together a short, approachable collection of public videos that show what EMDR therapy can look like - helpful if you want to learn before starting care. These clips are publicly available educational materials (not MACS clients).

As a trauma-specialized practice with EMDRIA-trained clinicians and a focus on making advanced care feel accessible, we hope this resource lowers the barrier to understanding EMDR and recovery. If you’re in Charlotte, Matthews, or Mint Hill (or joining us virtually across NC/SC), this is a gentle place to begin exploring options.

Questions about EMDR, our same-week availability, or insurance and self-pay options? Ask below or send a message - we’re here to help.

**Does psychotherapy actually work? The research says yes. 🧠**

Psychotherapy is more than “talking about your feelings.” Evidence-based therapy is designed to reduce symptoms, improve functioning, strengthen coping skills, and help people create meaningful changes in their lives.

And we have decades of research supporting it.

📚 A 2023 meta-analysis by **Cuijpers et al.** examined **409 randomized trials involving more than 52,000 patients** and found strong evidence supporting CBT for depression.

📚 A large network meta-analysis of **101 studies and nearly 12,000 adults** found psychotherapy and antidepressant medication were both effective for depression—and **combined treatment produced better outcomes for many patients than either treatment alone.**

Treatment can become even more comprehensive when we work as a team.

With a client's permission, therapists can coordinate with **psychiatrists, physicians and other prescribers** so that medication response, symptoms, functioning, side effects and therapeutic progress aren't being evaluated in isolation.

And when appropriate—and **when the client chooses**—partners, parents, family members or other trusted supports can become valuable parts of treatment too.

They can learn how to support new coping skills, improve communication, recognize warning signs and reinforce changes outside the therapy room.

Not everyone needs medication.
Not everyone needs family involvement.

**Good mental health treatment is individualized.**

At **McCloud Acosta Clinical Services (MACS)**, we believe in evidence-based, collaborative care designed around the needs of the person sitting in front of us.

Because therapy shouldn't just help you feel better during your appointment.

**It should help you live better outside of it.**

“What is therapy actually like?” 🤔

If you’ve never been to therapy before, it can feel a little mysterious—or even intimidating.

But therapy doesn’t have to be complicated.

You show up. You talk. You learn. You practice. And over time, things can begin to change.

Therapy is more than talking about what happened during your week. A good therapeutic relationship gives you a place to better understand why you think, feel, react, and relate the way you do—and then learn practical skills you can begin using in your everyday life.

Because the real work doesn’t only happen during your appointment.

It happens when you:
→ recognize anxiety and use a coping skill before it takes over
→ communicate differently during a difficult conversation
→ set a boundary you normally wouldn't set
→ notice an unhealthy pattern and choose a different response
→ practice regulating your emotions when you're overwhelmed
→ challenge thoughts that have kept you stuck
→ use what you learned in therapy when real life happens

Make yourself comfortable. Log in. Connect with your therapist. Learn new skills. Practice them in your life. Repeat.

And gradually, the goal is that you don't just get better at therapy—you get better at navigating your life.

At McCloud Acosta Clinical Services (MACS), we offer convenient virtual therapy throughout North Carolina, so receiving mental health care can fit more easily into your actual life.

💻 No commute. No waiting room. Just secure, professional mental health care from wherever you are.

Curious whether virtual therapy might be right for you? Visit our website or contact MACS to learn more about our therapists and services.
