Breast Augmentation Incisions: Which One Is Right for You?

There are three common incision options for breast augmentation, and each has its own benefits.

1️⃣ Transaxillary (underarm incision)

The incision is hidden in the natural crease of the underarm, leaving no scar on the breast itself. This may be a good option if keeping the breast free of an incision is important to you.

2️⃣ Periar**lar (around the ni**le)

The incision follows the edge of the ar**la, allowing the scar to blend with the natural border between the ar**la and breast skin. This may be an option for patients who want a discreet incision and may also provide access to the breast for certain surgical techniques.

3️⃣ Inframammary (breast crease incision)

The incision is placed in the natural fold underneath the breast, where the scar can be concealed by the breast itself or a bra. This approach provides direct access and is commonly used for precise implant placement and is often associated with the lowest capsular contracture rates

There’s no single “best” incision for everyone. Dr. Ferrari will recommend the approach that best fits your anatomy, implant choice, desired outcome, and goals.
