Looking for a way to keep little hands occupied?

PLAY DOUGH!

Rainy days, busy days, days spent waiting while older siblings finish activities.

Squeeze, pinch, pull, roll, cut, dig.

Play builds the foundation for the skills that come later (fasteners, handwriting, cutting)

Pull out the play dough and help your child build the strength and confidence they need to grow!

If your child is working on building stronger brain + body connections, activities that involve
climbing
crawling
balancing
hanging
crossing midline
rhythm
and heavy work
can be a beautiful way to support that growth.

At Little Roots, we love activities that include those things in fun ways:
rock climbing
ninja gyms
gymnastics
swimming
dance
tennis
drumming
hiking
playground obstacle courses

If the activity uses the whole body and asks the brain to organize movement, balance, rhythm, or coordination, it’s probably supporting more than you realize!

Parenting feels heavy sometimes.

Especially when you’re trying to help a child who is struggling and you aren’t sure what’s underneath it all.

Our goal is not just to work with your child - it’s to walk alongside your family.

We help parents better understand:
* nervous systems
* sensory needs
* regulation
* movement
* connection
* co-regulation
* practical supports for home

Because empowered parents change everything!

ADHD is not just about “paying attention.”

For many children, ADHD impacts how their body and brain organize movement, emotions, sensory input, time, routines, and daily expectations.

That’s where occupational therapy can help.

OT supports the whole child, not just the behavior we see on the outside.

Sometimes ADHD looks like constant movement.
Sometimes it looks like big reactions.
Sometimes it looks like avoiding hard tasks.
Sometimes it looks like forgetfulness, frustration, or needing a lot of reminders.

A child with ADHD may need support with:

🌿 Emotional regulation
🌿 Sensory processing
🌿 Body awareness
🌿 Motor planning
🌿 Fine motor skills
🌿 Executive functioning
🌿 Transitions
🌿 Daily routines
🌿 Confidence and independence

OT helps build practical tools that fit into real life, like movement breaks, sensory strategies, visual supports, routine adjustments, calming tools, handwriting support, and ways to make everyday tasks feel more manageable.

The goal is not to change who your child is.

The goal is to help your child feel more supported, more understood, and more capable in the routines that matter most.

At Little Roots Therapy, we help families look beneath the behavior and build support that fits the child and the family. Let’s connect today to see how we can help your child reach their full potential.

One of the beautiful parts of in-home therapy is that we get to support children in their real environment - with the people, routines, and relationships that shape their everyday life.

Sometimes that means siblings are part of the session too.

Through shared play, turn-taking, problem-solving, movement, and everyday routines, siblings can help therapy feel natural, connected, and meaningful.

Because progress is not just about what happens during a session.

It’s about helping your child feel understood, supported, and connected in the moments that matter most.

At Little Roots Therapy, we believe connection is part of the work.

Getting dressed is a big skill!

It takes balance, coordination, strength, body awareness, motor planning, sensory processing, and fine motor control all at once.

Pulling on socks.
Stepping into pants.
Finding arm holes.
Managing buttons, snaps, and zippers.
Tolerating tags, seams, and textures.
Knowing what comes first, next, and last.

These everyday routines require so much more than we realize.

When dressing is hard, children may need support building the foundation underneath the task ... not just more reminders to hurry up.

At Little Roots Therapy, we help children build independence through playful, purposeful support that fits into real family life. Let's connect today to help your child reach their full potential!

Strength, stability, coordination, visual perception and hand skills all contribute to handwriting success.

Looking for activities to support your child? Try these activities help develop the foundation children need for pencil grasp, pressure control, letter formation, spacing, endurance, and confidence:

Climbing: builds shoulder and core strength.
Hanging from bars: strengthens the hands and arms.
Crawling and cross-crawls: help both sides of the body work together.
Spray bottles: strengthen little fingers.
Crumbling paper: builds hand strength and coordination.
Using broken crayons: encourage a more functional grasp.
Origami: supports visual-motor skills and sequencing.
Playdough: builds hand strength, control, and endurance.

If your child is struggling with handwriting, the answer is not always more worksheets.

Sometimes, the best handwriting work happens through climbing, squeezing, crawling, building, folding, and play.

At Little Roots Therapy, meaningful progress grows from intentional, personalized support - where play, connection, and movement help each child build confidence in everyday life. Let's connect today to see how we can help your child reach their full potential.

Walking is a big milestone, but it’s also the beginning of so much more.

Those early steps help children build strength, balance, coordination, body awareness, and confidence as they begin exploring the world from a new perspective.

Walking supports future skills like climbing, running, jumping, dressing, playground play, and greater independence throughout the day.

The wobbly steps matter.
The reaching matters.
The trying again matters.

At Little Roots Therapy, we love helping families see how everyday movement builds the foundation for big growth. Let’s connect. ❤️

Pulling up is more than learning to stand!

When babies begin pulling up on furniture, they’re building strength, confidence, coordination, and problem-solving skills all at once.

This little movement helps support:

Leg, hip, and core strength
Shoulder and hand stability
Balance and postural control
Motor planning
Body awareness
Confidence moving in and out of new positions
Early preparation for cruising and walking

Pulling up also teaches babies how to shift their weight, use both sides of their body together, and figure out how to move safely from the floor to standing.

The everyday moments matter.

Reaching for the couch, kneeling at a low table, climbing onto cushions, and practicing transitions during play all help build the foundation for bigger movement skills.

At Little Roots Therapy, we love helping families understand the “why” behind development, and how simple play can support meaningful progress.

Let's connect today to help your child flourish.

Crawling is more than getting from one place to another.

It helps babies build strength, coordination, body awareness, visual skills, and early motor planning - all of which support future skills like climbing, dressing, handwriting, and play.

The little movements matter.

Floor time, reaching, pushing up, crawling over pillows, and playful movement all help build the foundation for big growth.

At Little Roots Therapy, we help families understand the “why” behind development and turn everyday play into meaningful progress.

Let's connect today to help your child reach their full potential!
