Brian D. Lamont

Brian D. Lamont, beloved brother, decorated Navy petty officer, and a humble soul who cherished the simple joys of life, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, in Mint Hill, North Carolina. Born on November 17, 1957, Brian’s life was marked by dedication, kindness, and an enduring love for those close to him.

Brian’s journey of service began at the youthful age of seventeen when he enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served as a petty officer aboard the USS Nimitz, where his commitment and exemplary conduct earned him multiple good conduct awards and recognition as sailor of the month—testaments to his steadfast character and professionalism. Alongside his military career, Brian pursued further education, attending Patrick Henry Community College for two years in Martinsville, Virginia, and completing advanced training at the United States Navy Propulsion Engineering School. Brian retired from a career as a packing specialist at Stronghaven, Inc.

A man of great humility, Brian lived a simple life rooted in kindness and integrity. His passions were many but deeply personal: he had a profound love for old cars and motorcycles. The beach held a special place in his heart, particularly Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, which he frequently visited with his family. These trips were not mere vacations but moments cherished and recounted with warmth, reflecting his profound appreciation for the company of loved ones and the tranquility of nature. Brian also took great pleasure in everyday outings like going out to eat and fishing, activities that allowed him to savor life’s simple pleasures.

Beyond his interests and hobbies, Brian was a pillar of wisdom and guidance within his family circle. He was known for offering the best advice, drawing from a wealth of common sense combined with a kind heart. The holiday seasons, especially Christmas and family cookouts were times he eagerly anticipated, relishing the opportunity to gather with family and share in the joy of togetherness.

Brian’s spiritual journey was an essential and proud facet of his life. He was a devoted believer in Jesus Christ, having accepted Him as his personal Savior. His faith found expression in his active membership in the Prism Sunday School class at Central Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he found community and spiritual nourishment.

He is survived by his beloved sister, Krista and brother-in-law Jerry, his brother Scott along with cherished nieces and nephews who carry forward his legacy of love and wisdom. Brian was preceded in death by his mother, Crystal Lamont, and his father, Richard Lamont, whose memories he honored deeply throughout his life. Brian was the best brother anyone could ask for and he will be deeply missed, but his memory will remain a guiding light for his family and friends forever

Brian’s life was rich with dedication, simplicity, and faith. He leaves behind a legacy of love, humility, and strength that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Dennis (Mac) McQuain

Dennis (Mac) McQuain, born on August 14, 1953, in Charleston, West Virginia, passed away on April 19, 2026. A man whose life was as vast and vibrant as his spirit, Dennis was a towering figure known for his unwavering dedication to his faith, his family, and the communities he cherished. His passing leaves an indelible void in the hearts of all who knew him, yet his legacy of love, laughter, and service continues to inspire.

Dennis’s journey was marked by accomplishments that reflected his multifaceted talents and deep commitments. After graduating from Herbert Hoover High School 1971. His dedication to service extended beyond the spiritual realm, evidenced by his honorable discharges from both the United States Air Force and the Air National Guard, where he served with pride from 1971 to 1993. He pursued his calling at East Coast Bible College, completing his studies in 1985.

A skilled craftsman and devoted laborer, Dennis was a proud member of the Carpenters Union, and worked as an independent contractor and as a Certified Mechanic. He found great joy in building hot rods and racing, passions that spoke to his love for creation and speed. He enjoyed making beautiful things. Known affectionately as "Big Fish" to some. He delighted in sharing his mechanical prowess and wisdom, teaching others with patience and enthusiasm.

Dennis’s heart beat strongly for his faith and community. He was beloved for his larger-than-life personality—his laughter, jokes, and heartfelt teachings enriched those around him. He was never lukewarm in his convictions, helping advancing the rights of the Native American people as President of the West Virginia Native American Coalition (WNAMCO), proudly honoring his Native American heritage. His relationship with tribal elder Grandpa Charlie and Grandmother Jan and his love for the Native American community were core parts of his identity.

Beyond his professional and community roles, Dennis was a man who treasured simple, joyful moments. He shared a unique bond with his family, especially his wife Esther and his son Joshua, of whom he was immensely proud. His grandchildren—Eli, Emma Kate, and Everett—brought him endless happiness, as did the presence of his sister Kimberly and a large extended family including Angi and her family, Amber and her family, and Joe and his children who enriched his life.

Those closest to Dennis fondly recall his humor and passions—from the ritual of date nights that invariably included a trip to Lowe’s, to playing in the river at Coonskin, to the soulful tunes drawn from his harmonica. He was known for sharing jokes with a twinkle in his eye, always learning new ones to brighten someone’s day. His love for dancing and music added rhythm to his life, infusing joy into every gathering, as did his "Papaw stories".

Dennis aspired to be a better man in his latter years than in his former, a testament to his humility and lifelong dedication to growth. He left behind not just memories, but lessons of kindness, faith, and strength. Every person he met came away a better person because of him. Not perfect, just forgiven.

William Evan Treat

William “Bill” Evan Treat passed peacefully from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Thursday, April 2, 2026. He truly had a Wonderful, Ambitious, and Full 87 years of life! Bill was born on March 26, 1939 in Elmira, NY to Basil and Edith Treat. He was part of the local cutest baby contest in 1941. Bill put his faith and trust in Jesus at a young age while listening to Pastor Charles E. Fuller on the Old Time Revival Hour explain that Jesus is the One Way to Salvation. Bill grew in his walk of faith as he continued to listen to good preaching. Bill graduated from Southside High School in 1957 in Elmira, NY. He attended Wheaton College (IL) where he graduated in 1961 with a degree in Sociology. While in college Bill participated in ROTC, Varsity Wrestling, and Letterman’s Club. Bill served in the United States Army from 1962-1967. His service included time in Texas and Germany. He became a Captain on September 14, 1965. Exactly 3 years later on September 14, 1968, Bill was promoted to Husband when he married his sweetheart Susan Kenney. Bill and Susan were married for 57 and 1/2 years. They enjoyed traveling, spending time together, and their children and grandchildren. When Bill was asked about having a lasting marriage, he responded with the scripture, “And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken” (Ecclesiastes 4:12). Bill’s interests included wrestling, playing the trumpet, acting, reading, and Jeopardy! Some of his favorite memories were meeting Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and Mike Pence. Bill’s greatest meeting was when he saw his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, face to face on April 2, 2026. Bill loved to share his Christian faith and liked to ask those he met, “Will I see you in Heaven?” He had the assurance of an eternity in Heaven one day because he knew Jesus had died on the cross and rose again, and he had asked Jesus to come into his heart. If you have never asked Jesus to save you, would you do that now? This will give you the assurance of a beautiful home in Heaven for all eternity. As Bill would say, “See you here, there, or in the air!”

Bill was preceded in death by his precious daughter Amy, and his parents. He is survived by his lovely wife Susan; his brother Dave (Vicki) Treat; his children Melanie (Shawn) Kell, Marcy (Cory) Lawrence, David Treat, Tim Treat; his grandchildren Schuyler (Mallory) Kell, Haley Kell, Reagan Lawrence, Ryler Lawrence, and many friends. Bill’s family is very thankful for the wonderful care he received from the Hospice team of Via Health Partners.
