Pet Spotlight: Deja's Dental Journey
Meet Deja, a sweet 9-year-old Shiba Inu who recently came to see us for a dental procedure. Like many senior pets, Deja has both heart disease and dental disease. After a thorough examination and careful discussion of the risks and benefits, Dr. Jones determined that a dental was the best choice to improve her comfort and overall health.
Dental disease doesn't just affect the mouthโit can impact a pet's quality of life and contribute to pain, infection, and difficulty eating. While anesthesia always carries some level of risk, especially in patients with underlying medical conditions, those risks can often be carefully managed with proper planning and monitoring.
Today, Deja is sporting a clean, healthy smile, and we're so proud of her! ๐
Aging is not a disease, and senior pets deserve the same attention to their health and comfort as any other patient. Annual dental evaluations and cleanings are an important part of helping our older companions live happier, healthier lives.
Way to go, Deja! ๐พโจ
