Getting lots of calls about ear pain. 📞

Over the counter swimmers ear only helps to prevent infection by drying out the ear canal. 🏊

Once the pain has started, you’ll need to call to schedule an appointment so we can determine if it’s an inner or outer infection (otitis media or externa). 👂🏼

It’s summer in the South. Things are hot and humid. The mosquitos are ravenous and kids are spending lots of time outdoors and playing with all number of animals. We’ve been seeing lots of dog bites!

🐶Dog/cat🐱 bite wound care:
Wash immediately
Check immunization status of bite victim and dog (may require a call to animal control)
Seek medical attention
Your friendly neighborhood ER 🏥can help with further wound care such a deep irrigation, tetanus immunization, and rabies post-exposure prophylaxis. 💉

My favorite guy got a dog bite earlier this week and we followed the steps above. He’s doing fine and it’s already beginning to heal.

I saw online the other day a nonmedical person say that “doctors don’t take the Hippocratic oath anymore”. That could not be further from the truth. We take it. I know everyone at my medical school took it when we got our white coat and again on graduation day. It’s even posted on the wall in my office.
