Stop the Bleed Month is every May. It's a public awareness campaign aimed at educating the general public on how to control sever bleeding in emergency situations, such as accidents, natural disasters, or violent incidents. The initiative empowers by standards the knowledge and skills to save lives before professional medical help arrives, emphasizing that minute's matter in bleeding emergencies. Why are brook trout numbers declining?
Warmer Water, Earlier Winter Thaws, and Heavy Rains are Hard on Brook Trout

When the mayflies and caddisflies are biting, it’s a good time to get out there and fly fish for brookies coming to the surface. But we need to be responsible not just in catch and release, but also by being good stewards of the environment in general.

“The story of Wisconsin’s trout fishery over the last 30 years has been a tale of two species responding differently to changing conditions. Populations of smaller, brightly-colored brook trout have declined, while numbers of larger brown trout have generally increased.

“Brook trout, which are native to Wisconsin, thrive in colder waters, while brown trout, a non-native species popular in the state’s trout fishery, prefer their streams just a few degrees warmer.” And it’s not just temperature influencing trout populations. The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) works to improve the health and safety of communities in Wisconsin and across the country. WISCONSIN STATEWIDE TORNADO DRILLS CANCELED!

The annual statewide tornado drills for Wisconsin scheduled for Thursday, April 16, 2026, are being canceled in light of recent severe weather events that have impacted communities across Wisconsin. There will not be an alternate date for these drills.

The National Weather Service in La Crosse will be surveying the tornado track that occurred in the Union Center, WI area later today (Wed, April 15). Results of this survey will be released later this afternoon. Please note that any determination of an EF3+ rating may take additional time.
