✨ Made 2 Move Success Story! ✨

From crawling and pulling to stand, to building standing balance, and now… INDEPENDENT WALKING! 🥹👏🏼

Every milestone takes practice, strength, coordination, and confidence. We worked hard on the foundational skills that helped prepare this little one for the next big step! 👣

Walking doesn’t happen overnight. It’s built on all the little skills that come before it. 💚

So proud of this little one and all the hard work along the way!

This is a controversial one 🙃

🚨 Infants don’t just “skip crawling”…

Sometimes, what looks like skipping a milestone is actually a sign that your baby needs more time, practice, or support developing the foundational skills that lead to crawling. 🤍

Crawling is more than just getting from point A to point B. It helps babies build strength, coordination, balance, weight shifting, and body awareness that support future motor skills.

✨ Every milestone builds on the one before it!

If your baby seems to be skipping milestones or moving differently than expected, a pediatric physical therapist can help you understand what you’re seeing and how to support your baby’s development through play.

So many benefits of the CUBE CHAIR to help promote age appropriate gross motor skills!. It’s so simple yet provides so many different variations for play.

Ways to use the CUBE CHAIR:
(1) 6-inch surface — place toys on the seat to promote ring sitting & side sitting.
(2) 10-inch surface — work on tall kneel play for hip strengthening
(3) 14-inch surface — supported standing to promote standing balance in preparation for walking
(4) practice assisted walking by using the cube chair as a push-toy. It slides nicely on carpet or vinyl floor.

This is a great piece of equipment to have for any infant — 6 months or older!

Is your baby starting to show signs of crawling? AWESOME! Try some of these different play positions to help your baby build the strength needed for proper hands and knees crawling!! This skill will set them up for successful movement throughout their environment.

Although the CDC removed hands and knees crawling from the developmental milestone checklist in 2021, as a Pediatric Physical Therapist, I ALWAYS promote symmetrical crawling on hands as knees with my patients. The benefits are endless….Strengthens shoulders & upper girdle muscles, improves coordination, promotes reciprocal alternating movements, facilitates right and left hemispheres of the brain to communicate, helps develop visual depth perception & improves core strength!

Toddler Play Table & 4 ways to use it to promote gross motor development!

Standing:
Yes. Of course it is a great play table for standing practice. This is the classic and most common way that this toy is used. It has many different sides to interact with & is a great height for 9-14 month olds that are pulling up to stand.

Kneeling:
If you didn’t know, the legs of this table pop off easily. Take 2 legs off and you have created the perfect angled surface for kneeling. Let your infant crawl up to the surface and pull up into a kneeling position to play!

Supported sitting:
Now, take all 4 legs off and you have the perfect toy to practice supported sitting with the infants arms propped on an elevated surface. Assist at the ribcage or pelvis as needed for sitting balance.

Tummy Time:
Yes, this is also an amazing toy for TUMMY TIME! With all 4 legs removed, this flat surface is perfect for your infant to practice reaching forward in tummy time to press the piano keys or open the laptop!

Hope these tips help!

I LOVE Crawling: Its More Than Just a Cute Milestone! ✨

Did you know crawling is crucial for your baby’s development? It’s important to encourage crawling on hands & knees prior to walking for a variety of reasons.

— here’s why it matters:
(1) Boosts Brain Development: Cross-body movement (alternating legs/arms and moving right and left sides of the body in coordinated sequence) helps build connections between the left & right brain, laying the foundation for coordination and learning!

(2) Strengthens Muscles: Arms, shoulders, legs, back, and neck — crawling builds the core strength your baby needs for walking, standing, and even writing later on.

(3) Improves Balance & Coordination: Learning to move both sides of the body together improves motor skills, posture, and balance.

(4) Supports Sensory Integration: Feeling different textures with their hands & knees along with moving through space in different directions helps babies process sights, sounds, and sensations more effectively.

(5) Encourages exploration: crawling on hands and knees is the first way that your infant can explore the environment around them, play with toys independently and start to problem solve through challenges.

It’s not about the money…..🤍 It’s about making meaningful & beneficial services accessible to infants and their families.

Healthcare should fit into a family’s life—not create more barriers. It should be convenient, accessible, and personalized to meet each family’s unique needs.

Because every infant deserves the opportunity to thrive, and every parent deserves the support they need along the way. 🤍

I leave my infant playgroup feeling so grateful for the opportunity to support parents as they navigate their baby’s development. 🤍

My goal is always to help parents feel more confident understanding developmental milestones and knowing how to support new skills through everyday play.

You don’t need fancy toys or complicated activities to support your baby’s development. Sometimes, the simplest changes in positioning, play, and interaction can make a meaningful difference! ✨

Because confident parents + purposeful play = a strong foundation for little ones to grow and thrive. 🫶🏼
