Loyola Medicine is proud to announce that Matthew Eggert, DPT, has been named vice president of ambulatory operations for Loyola Medicine.

Matthew brings nearly two decades of experience at Loyola Medicine, along with a strong track record
of operational leadership and commitment to our Mission. Most recently, he served as executive
director overseeing Loyola’s musculoskeletal, neurosciences and behavioral health programs.

He began as a physical therapist, later advancing to clinical coordinator, practice director and executive director. His frontline clinical experience combined with his leadership roles give him a unique perspective on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

Congratulations to Loyola University Medical Center's DAISY Foundation award winner, Janine Bahhur, RN.

A patient recognized Janine for her ability to comfort them during a deeply vulnerable time, creating an immediate sense of trust and reassurance. "She was everything I could have hoped for in a nurse, and more."

Whether it was helping with transfers, providing personal care or sitting and talking during sleepless nights, Janine made her patient feel truly seen and supported.

At Loyola Medicine, our colleagues bring our Mission to life not only within our hospitals and clinics, but far beyond them. This week, we’re proud to spotlight Sonya Agnew, MD, FACS, chief of the Division of Hand Surgery, whose ongoing volunteer work in the Navajo Nation reflects our deep commitment to serving those most in need.

For the past four years, Dr. Agnew has traveled to Chinle, Arizona on a three-day mission trip to care for patients on the Navajo reservation through a collaborative hand surgery clinic supported by the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) and the Indian Health Service.

Dr. Agnew says. “When you know you’re providing care to people who otherwise might go without, how could you not keep going?”

The Chinle Comprehensive Hand Clinic exists to remove barriers to care. Patients in this region often face long travel distances, sometimes driving four to five hours each way, to access specialty services. By bringing surgeons directly to the reservation, the clinic allows patients to receive care closer to home, surrounded by their families and support systems.

Thank Dr. Agnew in the comments for continuing to live Loyola Medicine’s Mission—expanding access to care where it’s needed most.
