Bobbie Don Harris, age 73, passed away on May 31, 2026, at a hospital in McAlester, Oklahoma.
Bobbie was born on March 14, 1953, in McKinney, Texas to Bobby and Nellie Harris and spent his childhood growing up in Garland, where he graduated from Garland High School in 1971. Throughout his adult life, he primarily called Wylie and Nevada, Texas home before later settling in the beautiful Potato Hills of Talihina, Oklahoma. It was there that he spent some of his happiest years and enjoyed retirement surrounded by the nature he loved so deeply.
Bobbie dedicated much of his professional career to Xerox, where he served as Shipping and Receiving Manager. After Xerox closed, he continued his career with Prime Lending, retiring in 2022. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to giving his best no matter what the task.
On September 16, 1978, Bobbie married Debbie Maggard. Together they welcomed two children, Joshua Lee Harris and Tiffany Carol Harris Rees, and spent many wonderful years together in Wylie, Texas. On April 10, 1999, he married Larina Moore, with whom he shared 27 years of love, companionship, and laughter. They often referred to one another lovingly as “soul mates.”
Bobbie is survived by his wife, Larina Harris; his son, Joshua Lee Harris and wife Erin of Dallas, Texas; his daughter, Tiffany Carol Rees and husband Jeremy of Princeton, Texas; and his beloved grandchildren, Bentleigh, Brooklynn, and Elijah Rees.
He is also survived by his stepchildren, Brittni Kotara and husband Duane of Cibolo, Texas, and their four children, Genavie, Aria, Avari, and Gwyneth; and Matt Moore and wife Marley of Draper, Utah, and their three children, Chase, Brendan, and Elena.
Bobbie is also survived by his sister, Cynthia Compton of Farmersville, Texas; his sister-in-law, Kristi Harris of Wylie, Texas; and his close friend, confidant, and nephew, Chase Crouch and wife Jenny of Farmersville, Texas. He is further survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and their spouses, all of whom he loved dearly.
Bobbie was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Lenton Harris; his mother, Nellie Lou Harris; his brother, Danny Lenton Harris; and his sister, Deborah Lynn McCreary.
While Bobbie worked hard throughout his life, it was the simple things that brought him the greatest happiness. In retirement, he found peace on his land in southeastern Oklahoma. He loved exploring his property on his four-wheeler, checking trail cameras for deer, watching wildlife thrive around him, and caring for the creatures that crossed his path. Whether he was
observing baby birds from a distance, moving turtles safely out of the roadway, or simply taking in the beauty of the woods and hills around him while speaking to God, Bobbie felt most at home in nature.
To his grandchildren, Bobbie was affectionately known as “PawPaw.” Being a PawPaw was undoubtedly one of the greatest joys of his life and a title he carried with pride. The joy was written all over his face at the mere mention of their names. Whether attending a karate tournament, volleyball game, band performance, or another special event, he was there whenever he could be, cheering them on with a smile that everyone could see.
Bobbie's love for animals, especially dogs, was evident throughout his life. Over the years, he shared his home and heart with many faithful companions, including Red, Pepper, Midnight, Smokey, Snuffles, Kibbles, Coco, and Scooter. In his later years, Kibbles, Coco, and Scooter became his constant companions on the land he loved so much. Whether exploring the property, relaxing on the porch, or simply enjoying a quiet day at home, his dogs were never far from his side. He cared for them deeply, and they brought him immeasurable joy, comfort, and companionship.
Bobbie walked closely with God, especially in his later years, finding Him in the beauty of nature and embracing a personal relationship with Christ. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the countless stories shared by family and friends. Though he will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing he is at peace and reunited with the loved ones he missed so dearly. They cling to the fact that because of the love and acceptance of Christ Jesus, they know they will one day see him again. Until then, they will cherish the stories, memories and place he called home and loved so much.
Services for Bobbie will be held at Friendship Baptist Church at 270 Country Club Rd in Fairview, Texas, on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 10:00 am. Following the service, close friends and family are invited to the home of Jeremy and Tiffany Rees to enjoy a family BBQ together.
