As we celebrate this incredible milestone, our hearts are completely full. Meet Victoria Villegas, a beautiful example of life after cancer. Today, she is a devoted mother, a compassionate nurse, and a long-term survivor who brings so much hope to our current Vannie Kids.

Victoria knows firsthand how difficult the journey can be, and she has a powerful message for families currently in treatment:
"I know it seems like you're in a tunnel and there's no way out. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Don't give up, hold on to your family, stay strong because it's worth it."

As a long-term cancer survivor and former Vannie Kid, Andrea’s journey has touched hearts far beyond the doors of our clinic. Known nationally for her breathtaking photos, Andrea bravely embraced her diagnosis and showed the world exactly what true strength looks like.

Meet Gerardo Cantu, a true embodiment of resilience, hope, and the power of giving back! ✨
As one of the very first patients to walk through the doors of the Vannie E. Cook Jr. Clinic, Gerardo's journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. He is a brave three-time pediatric cancer survivor and a beloved who has always inspired our clinic family with his incredible strength.
Last year, Gerardo reached an amazing milestone: he graduated from South Texas College as a nurse! 🩺💛 His dream has always been to care for the same community that supported him during his fight.
"[I felt like] the only way I could repay them was by succeeding and accomplishing my goal, that being graduating from South Texas College and becoming a nurse and helping the community here in the Rio Grande Valley." — Gerardo

June is National Long-Term Cancer Survivors Month. This month is a beautiful reminder that ringing the bell is just the beginning of a long, healthy life! 💛✨

In this special video, our very own Dr. Rodrigo Eraña shares how our survivorship program has evolved to care for our Vannie Kids as they grow up right here in the RGV. He is joined by a wonderful partner, Dr. ZoAnn Dreyer, Clinical Director of the Long-Term Survivor Program at Texas Children's Hospital.
