For more than two decades, Dr. Narendra Singh has helped strengthen pediatric critical care for children and families across the Rio Grande Valley. Now, his commitment to expanding access to care is being recognized with one of HCA Healthcare’s highest honors.

We’re proud to recognize Dr. Singh, pediatric intensivist and Chief of Pediatrics, as our 2026 HCA Healthcare Awards of Distinction Frist Humanitarian Physician Award recipient.

Throughout his time serving our community, Dr. Singh has helped establish pediatric intensivist services and strengthen critical care for children in the Rio Grande Valley. His commitment to improving care also extends internationally as founder and president of Giving Health To Kids, a charitable organization working to advance neonatal and maternal care in Guyana through clinical training, equipment, partnerships and sustainable healthcare infrastructure.

“What distinguishes Dr. Singh is his consistent commitment to serving underserved populations, both locally and globally,” shared Laura Disque, Rio Grande Regional Hospital CEO.

The HCA Healthcare Awards of Distinction recognize exceptional individuals whose work and lives reflect the patient-centered and humanitarian values upon which HCA Healthcare was founded.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Singh and recognizing his continued commitment to caring for children and expanding access to care for communities in need.

When our community needs emergency care, our nurses are there with skill, compassion and a commitment to caring for every patient who comes through our doors.

During Emergency Nurses Week, we’re recognizing the expertise behind that care. Across our main emergency department and our four 24/7 ER locations, our emergency nurses bring knowledge, teamwork and dedication to patients when they need care most.

As part of HCA Healthcare, we support nurses through career development, continuing education and clinical training, helping our colleagues continue building the knowledge and skills they bring to patients every day.

We’re grateful for our emergency nurses and the important role they play in delivering high-quality, compassionate care throughout our community. The nurses pictured represent just a few of the incredible colleagues who make this care possible, and we’re proud to recognize every member of our emergency nursing teams, whether pictured or not.

When you or a loved one needs emergency care, your closest option may be a freestanding emergency room (FSER).

An FSER provides 24/7 emergency care similar to a hospital emergency room, but it’s located separately from a hospital campus. Offering convenient access to emergency care, FSERs can help you get the care you need close to where you are. Our facilities in Edinburg, McAllen, Mission and San Juan offer full-service adult and pediatric emergency care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.

If you’re due for a mammogram, make time for your health this October.

Mammograms can help detect breast cancer early, when it may be easier to treat. A screening mammogram looks for signs of breast cancer before symptoms appear, making routine screening an important part of breast health.

Across our broader HCA Healthcare network, caregivers perform approximately 1.5 million mammograms each year.

For many people with blood cancer or other serious blood disorders, a blood stem cell or bone marrow transplant can offer hope — and it often starts with a donor.

According to the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), most patients who need a transplant don’t have a fully matched donor in their family and rely on NMDP (formerly Be The Match) to help find one. NMDP ℠ is a global nonprofit leader in cell therapy that helps save the lives of patients with blood cancers and disorders.

As part of HCA Healthcare, we're proud to support this life-saving work through the Sarah Cannon Transplant and Cellular Therapy Network — one of the nation's leading providers of unrelated bone marrow donor transplants in the U.S. Each year, this extensive network helps connect tens of thousands of patients with the care they need.

You could be someone’s match. Learn more and join the registry at https://bit.ly/4z5kBa5.

When Annistyn was born at 22 weeks and 2 days, weighing just 415 grams, or 14.6 ounces, she was admitted to our Level IV NICU at The Woman's Hospital of Texas, where she would spend the next 260 days receiving specialized neonatal care.

Her mom, Kelsey, remembers the neonatal nurses who stood beside their family throughout that journey. “They were there for us on our most difficult days, and they never gave up on Annistyn,” she shared.

Today, Annistyn is starting PreK3 and Kelsey, inspired by the nurses who cared for her daughter, is in nursing school with hopes of becoming a NICU nurse herself.

This , Annistyn and Kelsey’s story is a meaningful reminder of the lasting impact NICU care can have on a family. Read more: https://bit.ly/4yndytC
