In 2006, our Weslaco site became the first sleep disorders center south of San Antonio to gain accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), the United States’ pre-eminent accrediting body for sleep disorders centers. In 2010, a second site in Edinburg became fully accredited, subsequently moving its operation a few blocks south in 2014 to a site in north McAllen, which in turn

gained accreditation from the AASM in 2015. The Pulmonary and Sleep Center of the Valley thus currently maintains two fully-accredited sleep disorder center sites in the Rio Grande Valley, one in the mid-Valley (Weslaco) and a site in the upper Valley (McAllen). Each of our locations is no more than a 30 minute drive from any part of the Valley. Three of our Pulmonologist-Sleep Specialists are dual Board Certified in Pulmonary and Sleep medicine. All five of our pulmonologist-sleep specialists are additionally Board-Certified in Critical Care Medicine, each holding appointments in the Critical Care Units of the nearby Renaissance Medical Center in North McAllen. Our Psychologist-Sleep Specialist gained Certification from the American Board of Sleep Medicine as a PhD Sleep Specialist in 1989. Our Center-affiliated Dental Sleep Medicine Specialist gained Certification from the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine in 2014 and remains the Valley’s only such credentialed Dental Sleep Medicine specialist. Sleep is known to modulate all physiological systems and sub-systems of the body, including the the individual’s mental and behavioral function. In turn, all physiological and mental systems of the mind-body, including organ dysfunctions/diseases as well as mental/behavioral disorders modulate sleep and its disorders. Our doctoral staff has credentialed expertise across the broad range of disciplines that interface with the assessment and treatment of sleep complaints/disorders, offering a depth and breadth of expertise across the many health care disciplines that often come into play in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep complaints/disorders. The depth and breadth of our collective expertise permits our provision of an atypically comprehensive, integrative approach to the assessment and treatment of the broad range of sleep complaints/disorders manifesting in adults and children.

🫧 A clean CPAP is a healthier CPAP.

Regularly cleaning your CPAP mask, tubing, and humidifier chamber helps reduce the buildup of bacteria, mold, and allergensβ€”keeping your therapy safe and effective.

Here are a few simple reminders:
βœ”οΈ Clean your mask and tubing regularly
βœ”οΈ Empty and refill your humidifier with distilled water
βœ”οΈ Replace supplies as recommended
βœ”οΈ Let your provider know if your equipment isn't fitting properly or isn't working as it should

Taking just a few minutes to care for your equipment can make a big difference in your sleep quality and overall health.
