A simple activity like playing with shaving cream and water can open up a world of language learning opportunities…

Not only is it a fun, sensory experience, but it also encourages creativity and communication skills in kids! As they squish, spread, and create, they’re also practicing vocabulary, following directions, and expressing their thoughts.

So the next time you’re looking for a messy yet educational activity, grab that shaving cream and let the language fun begin!

Happy Space Day — May 1st! 🚀✨

Combining speech therapy with a cozy astronomy lesson! This amazing kid created these constellations while we practiced reading instructions, following steps and answering short questions about Space Day.
Activities included:
- Reading a short story about constellations and Space Day
- Following written/modeled steps to cut, place, and connect “stars” to make a constellation
- Answering WH-questions and yes/no questions about Space Day and their constellation

Results: increased confidence with multisensory instruction, better accuracy following multi-step directions and richer space-related vocabulary. Loved seeing creativity + communication skills come together!
