Have you fallen into the trap of thinking the only growing season is the spring?! Not so! We have four growing seasons in the . Warm season in the spring, a long hot season, a SECOND warm season in the fall and a cool season in the winter (minus the freezes).

The hard part about fall is because the growing season starts hot and we start getting colder, we have to start some plants inside to be ready for the outside and the shorter growing season. Praise the Lord for 4M Farms RGV ! We're going to have an incredible variety of herbs and veggies this fall, so do what you need to, to get your garden ready πŸ˜ƒ.

If you're not sure where to start, send us a DM! We offer garden consultations, coaching and turn-key garden installations if you don't already have a garden.

Today's is for the . Keeping your plants on a consistent watering schedule is one of the best things you can do to keep them healthy and producing in the intense heat of the !

If you're hand watering and feeling the fatigue of getting up every morning to water, I highly recommend either olla pots or a drip irrigation system (this can be connected to rain barrels and be a gravity-fed system, or a hose-bib with a pressure reducer and a timer). Your body and your plants will thank you!

You should be spending your time checking on your plants, harvesting, and just enjoying all the hard work you put in early in the season. Not feeling like a slave to watering your garden... plus, you're going to need that extra time and energy to start planning your fall weather (2nd warm season) garden! Can you believe it's only just around the corner πŸ˜ƒ?!

Are you growing yard-long beans? I would say you should be if you're in the ! This Asian style bean loves the heat and is delicious both raw and cooked! Harvest around 12" long for eating. They will grow to about 3 feet if you let them (hence the name)!

Simple recipe:
-Wash and cut beans into 2" long sections.
-Toss in a bowl with olive oil to coat (this protects the bean while cooking and preserves color).
-Put beans in a steamer basket for 3 to 5 minutes, or until desired doneness is reached.
-Toss with salt, pepper, garlic and a squeeze of lemon.
-Serve warm or room temperature πŸ‘©β€πŸ³πŸ’‹!

Good morning ! Never would I have thought that videos of food-gardeners in their pajamas with coffee in hand would be an internet trend 🀣. . Here's to those of us that have always done this... unprompted.

And if you want this to be your morning, I want it for you too! I teach beginner to intermediate gardeners how to grow organically in raised garden beds and can also get you set up to grow if you don't have a garden already! It's already time to start planning for fall πŸ‚πŸŒ±!

I will tell you this....if you have a kitchen garden (herbs, seasonal veggies and fruits), you will have all kinds of nature come and visit you. Some are annoying (like aphids), but others are exciting! I don't mind these caterpillars eating up the dill. Because you know what? I have plenty! Plenty for me, and plenty for them. My God is a God of ABUNDANCE (2 Corinthians 9:8)!

If you thought the growing season was over because it's hot, think again my friend! Basil, rosemary, oregano and thyme can all still be transplanted now. Sweet potatoes, cow peas (like black eyed peas and long beans), okra and eggplant are all super happy in the heat. I'm also growing patty pan squash (thriving) and malabar spinach (vine) just sprouted from seed! If you want a personalized learning experience on how to grow successfully and organically in the RGV, I want to be your garden coach! Reach out now so we can get you set up to grow this fall!
