You’ve tried to rest.

You’ve waited for the headaches, dizziness, and brain fog to fade… but they linger.

Then — you walk into OMST for the first time. 💡

And for the first time, you feel hope.

OMST helps retrain the brain after concussion by restoring how your eyes, balance, and senses work together again.

It’s a safe, research-backed approach that helps patients rebuild efficiency in their multi-sensory pathways — so you can feel steady, focused, and you again.

If your concussion symptoms just aren’t improving, there’s still a way forward. 💛

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is:
"But they passed their vision screening."

And honestly? Most of our patients did, too.

Vision screenings are great for checking eyesight (clarity).

But they DON’T evaluate important visual skills like:
• Eye teaming (how the eyes work together)
• Tracking
• Focusing
• Visual processing

That's why a child can see the board perfectly and still struggle when it comes to reading and learning.

Vision is so much more than 20/20.

If your child is worn out after just one page, that's worth noticing.

Reading isn't one skill.

The eyes have to track, focus, and work as a team the whole time.

When that's hard, reading feels like a workout.

It shouldn't be that tiring. And when it gets easier, learning usually does too.

Reading IS more fun when the words on the page aren’t moving, wiggling, blurred or chopped up.

Kids (and some adults) really don’t know how words are supposed to look on the page if that’s all they have ever known.

They probably don’t know why reading feels hard.

They have nothing to compare it to.

At SVDC, we help the eyes learn how to work together so reading (and other learning skills) feels easier.

If homework feels like a nightly battle in your house, you are not alone.

So many parents come to us exhausted from the homework battle.

Because every evening feels like the same cycle.

Sit down.
Get started.
Get frustrated.
Tears.

Everyone walks away defeated.

The tricky part is that kids often can't explain why reading or schoolwork feels hard.

They just know it does.

Sometimes the struggle isn't about effort.
Sometimes it's about how the eyes and brain are working together.

There may be more to the story than you realize. Give us a call (770) 423-7500 to talk 1-1 with a vision therapist to see if some of what you’re experiencing could be related to vision.

Your child passed the school vision screening. Phew, right?

Here's the thing:
a vision screening ONLY checks if they can
see the letters on the chart.

It doesn't check how their eyes work together.

So a kid can pass and still have a hard time with reading or headaches or trouble focusing.

If something still feels off, let's take a closer look.

We’re here to help. 💙

This is one of my HILLS–
Patching is NOT a good option for
correcting a “lazy” eye.

It’s outdated.
And Unnecessary.

Better options exist for helping correct many vision issues,
including a “lazy eye.”

We work with patients to help teach their brain how to use BOTH eyes at the same time.

More than anything, we believe vision therapy should feel safe and fun.

We hear some version of this a lot:
"My child would do literally anything else before picking up a book. "

And honestly? That can be really concerning for parents.

Because you know they're smart.
You know they're capable.

So, why does reading feel like such a battle?

Sometimes kids aren't avoiding reading because they're lazy or unmotivated.

Sometimes reading is genuinely harder than it should be.

When the eyes have trouble tracking, focusing, or working together, reading takes more effort—and eventually kids might start avoiding things that feel frustrating.

The good news? Many vision problems that interfere with reading are treatable.

💛 If this sounds familiar, we'd love to help you figure out what’s really going on.

What if we told you there was a way to retrain your brain after a concussion??

OMST stands for Optometric Multisensory Training and helps to re-train the brain on a subcortical level.

If you have been told “there’s nothing you can do for a concussion”
..that is simply not true.

We can help.

Our next round of OMST is starting soon. Curious if OMST might be a good fit for you or your child? Send us a DM.

What if there was a reason your child is struggling with reading comprehension?

If they can read the words but don’t understand it…this will be helpful ⬇

Vision issues can absolutely affect reading comprehension.

EVEN IF they have a “perfect” eye exam.

We see it often. Kids get a “perfect” eye exam with 20/20 clarity. They don’t need glasses. Everything seems fine.

But they still struggle…
in school and with homework.

If your child is reading but is having trouble with reading comprehension, it’s worth taking a deeper look.

We can help. Give us a call to talk to one of our vision therapists about what might be going on beneath the surface.

It’s worth getting your questions answered. (770) 423-7500
