Pete G. Contreras Jr., 60, of Moody, Texas, passed away on October 26, 2026, in Temple, Texas. A visitation with the family will be 6-8pm, Monday, November 2nd at Cole Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be 10am, Tuesday, November 3rd at Old Perry Cemetery in Moody, Texas.

Born on March 5, 1966, in Moody, Pete was a lifelong Central Texas man whose roots ran deep and whose greatest pride was always his family. A graduate of Moody High School, Class of 1985, Pete made his mark on the football field and was active in FFA, where he enjoyed showing pigs. On June 13, 1986, he married Teresa Vazquez De Contreras, sharing 21 years of marriage and building a life and family together. Those early years reflected much of the man he would become: hardworking, hands-on, and always ready to get involved.

Pete was a machinist by trade, a profession well suited to a man who knew his way around tools and wasn't afraid of hard work. He spent 19 years with TX Hydraulics, where his skill and dedication were a testament to the pride he took in what he did. Pete was the kind of man who could turn a wrench, figure out how something worked, and take satisfaction in making things right.

But his greatest accomplishments were never measured by the work he did. They were found in the time he spent with the people he loved. Pete enjoyed turning wrenches, coaching Little League, and grilling for his family. He loved hanging out with his sons and, especially, spending time with his grandchildren. Whether he was working on something, cheering from the sidelines, or gathering everyone around a meal, Pete found joy in the simple moments that make a life meaningful.

A member of the Methodist church in Moody, Pete was part of the community he had always called home. His life was woven into the people, places, and traditions that made that community special.

Pete's legacy lives on in the family he loved so dearly. He leaves behind his sons, Anthony Contreras and Pete Contreras III; his brothers, Mike Contreras and Gregory Contreras; and five grandchildren, Spencer, Jaxx, Savannah, Beckham, and Hazel, who will carry memories of their grandfather with them for years to come.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete Contreras Sr. and Gloria Hazel (Sauceda) Contreras.

A life isn't measured only by the years we are given, but by the people we love, the memories we leave behind, and the lives we touch along the way. Pete's life was built around family, hard work, and the everyday moments that often become our most treasured memories. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever a part of the family that meant everything to him.
