Virtual Voyage: Kayaking

With resistance bands in hand, our residents paddled along the crystal-clear waters while taking in the peaceful sights of one of Canada's most iconic glacial lakes. Lake Emerald is known for its brilliant turquoise water and backdrop of the majestic Rocky Mountains.

As we paddled, we learned a little about the lake's history and surrounding wildlife. 3 fun facts about Lake Emerald:

-Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park, British Columbia, is the largest of the park's 61 lakes

-Emerald Lake is famous for its vibrant turquoise waters caused by sunlight reflecting off suspended glacial rock flour

-Emerald Lake at its deepest is approximately 32 feet and supports populations of mostly Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout, and Rocky Mountain Whitefish
