Therapy Thursday Spotlight: IV Nutrient Therapy with Dr. Peachy and Dr. Williamson

At North Coast Naturopathic Medicine, we are excited to offer IV nutrient therapy, a direct way to deliver essential vitamins, minerals, and hydration into the body. Unlike oral supplements, IV therapy bypasses the digestive system, allowing nutrients to enter the bloodstream immediately and at higher concentrations.

IV nutrient therapy can support overall wellness, help the body recover from stress, fatigue, or illness, and provide targeted nutrient support tailored to your individual needs. Each session is administered under the guidance of our experienced team, ensuring safety, comfort, and effectiveness.

If you’re looking for a way to support energy, immune function, or general health, schedule a consultation today to see if IV nutrient therapy is right for you. Your body will thank you.

Great Care Doesn’t Have to Be Close to Home

You may know North Coast Naturopathic Medicine as a Humboldt County practice, but our care extends far beyond the North Coast.

Through telehealth appointments, our doctors can work with patients located in:

🌲 California
🏔️ Alaska
🌿 Oregon
🌵 Arizona

That means you don’t necessarily have to live near our office to establish care and have access to a naturopathic doctor.

Telehealth allows eligible patients to meet with their doctor from home while still receiving the thoughtful, individualized approach we bring to our in person visits.

Whether you're hours away from our McKinleyville office, live in another part of California, or call Alaska, Oregon, or Arizona home, naturopathic care may be closer than you think.

Four states. One practice. Care that can meet you where you are.

Want to know if telehealth is an option for you? Contact our office to learn more about our doctors, availability, and establishing care remotely.

Ever notice how your cat seems to “talk” to you? 🐾

That’s not your imagination, cats actually developed meowing specifically to communicate with humans.

Once cats reach adulthood, they rarely meow at each other. Instead, they save those vocalizations for us, using different tones, pitches, and patterns to get our attention.

Over time, many cats even learn what works:
✔ A short meow for greeting
✔ A louder, persistent one for food
✔ A softer tone for affection

Some cats will even create their own unique “language” based on how their humans respond. It’s a pretty amazing reminder that our pets aren’t just living alongside us, they’re actively learning how to connect with us.

✨ So the next time your cat is “talking,” they’re not being random… they’re communicating. Does your cat have a specific meow you recognize right away? 🐱

Fast Fact Friday

Did you know the stethoscope was invented over 200 years ago?

In 1816, French physician René Laennec created the first stethoscope after realizing there had to be a better way to listen to a patient's heart and lungs. His original design wasn't the familiar instrument we know today—it was simply a hollow wooden tube!

This simple invention transformed medicine by allowing healthcare providers to better evaluate heart, lung, and other internal sounds without invasive procedures.

Today, the stethoscope remains one of the most recognizable symbols of healthcare and is still an important tool used during physical examinations around the world.

Sometimes, the greatest innovations begin with a simple idea: finding a better way to care for patients. ❤️

What's the oldest piece of medical equipment you can think of?

Did You Know?

Goosebumps are a tiny reminder of our evolutionary past.

Every time you get goosebumps, your body is activating a reflex called piloerection. Tiny muscles attached to each hair follicle contract, causing your hairs to stand on end.

Thousands of years ago, our ancestors had much more body hair than we do today. When those hairs stood up, they trapped a layer of warm air against the skin to help conserve heat. They also made a person appear larger and more intimidating when faced with danger.

Today, we don't rely on body hair for survival, but the reflex is still built into our nervous system. That's why goosebumps can appear when you're cold, frightened, excited, or even during an emotional moment or your favorite song.

Our bodies are full of fascinating reminders of where we came from, even something as simple as goosebumps has a story to tell.

What gives you goosebumps most often: cold weather, music, or something else?

What exactly is OZONE therapy?

You’ve probably heard of ozone in the atmosphere, but did you know it’s also used therapeutically in certain medical settings?

Ozone (O₃) is a molecule made up of three oxygen atoms. In medical ozone therapy, a carefully controlled mixture of oxygen and ozone is used with the goal of creating a temporary, measured oxidative stimulus in the body. That may sound like something we would want to avoid, but controlled oxidative stress can activate some of the body’s own antioxidant and cellular response pathways.

So why do we use it?

Ozone therapy is being studied and used in integrative medicine for its potential effects on inflammatory signaling, circulation and oxygen utilization, immune response, and the body’s antioxidant defense systems. Research is ongoing, and the strength of evidence varies depending on the condition and method of administration.

Because of these properties, ozone therapy may be considered as part of an individualized treatment plan for patients dealing with concerns such as chronic inflammation, certain infections, chronic or complex illness, pain and musculoskeletal concerns, and tissue healing and recovery.

And ozone therapy isn’t just one treatment!

Depending on the patient and their individual needs, ozone can be administered in several different ways. Dr. Peachy determines whether ozone is appropriate, which method makes sense, and how it fits into the bigger picture of a patient’s care.

That last part is important. Ozone isn’t about treating everyone with the same protocol. It’s another therapeutic tool that can be considered alongside nutrition, lifestyle, conventional treatment when appropriate, and other aspects of integrative care.

Interested in learning more about ozone therapy with Dr. Peachy? Give our office a call to find out more. 💙

THERAPY THURSDAY | When Technology Meets Touch 💜

What happens when highly specific microcurrent therapy is paired with gentle, hands-on care?

With Dr. Amy Williamson, Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) and CranioSacral Therapy (CST) can be used together during the same session, creating a unique treatment experience that combines technology with therapeutic touch.

FSM uses extremely low-level electrical currents along with specific combinations of frequencies selected according to the tissues and concerns being addressed. Multiple frequencies can be used during treatment, allowing Dr. Williamson to individualize each session rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

While the FSM is running, Dr. Williamson can incorporate CranioSacral Therapy, a gentle hands-on technique focused on the craniosacral system and releasing areas of restriction and tension.

The result is a treatment experience that is quiet, gentle and incredibly individualized.

FSM is used in clinical practice for a variety of concerns involving pain, inflammation, muscles, nerves and recovery, while CST may be incorporated to support relaxation, mobility and overall function. Treatment is always based on the individual and what Dr. Williamson determines is appropriate for their care.

It’s one of our favorite examples of how naturopathic medicine can bring together modern therapeutic technology and hands-on care. 💜

Keep doing what you love. 🌲🥾

When joint pain or an old injury starts limiting the things you enjoy, regenerative injection therapies like PRP and Prolotherapy offer a different approach: supporting the body’s own healing response.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) starts with your own blood. A small amount is collected and processed to concentrate platelets, which contain growth factors and signaling proteins involved in tissue repair. The PRP is then injected into a targeted area to support the natural healing process.

Prolotherapy uses a different technique, commonly involving a dextrose solution, to stimulate a localized healing response in targeted joints, tendons and ligaments.

Dr. Deborah Angersbach brings more than 35 years of healthcare experience to her patients, including 18 years practicing chiropractic medicine before becoming a naturopathic doctor. Her extensive background in musculoskeletal care and additional training in regenerative injection therapies gives her a unique perspective when evaluating pain, injury and function.

Because the goal isn’t only to ask “Where does it hurt?”

It’s also “What is it keeping you from doing?” 💚

Hiking, gardening, exercising, walking comfortably or simply keeping up with everyday life. The goal is to help you keep doing what you love.
