Wishing a very happy Grandparents' Day to everyone this weekend. Did you know?

👵 The first Sunday after Labor Day is a national holiday "to honor grandparents, to give grandparents an opportunity to show love for their children's children, and to help children become aware of strength, information, and guidance older people can offer".

🤗 The holiday was first suggested by Russell Capper (age 9 in 1969) in a letter to President Richard Nixon.

👴 The proclamation designating Grandparents’ Day as a national holiday was signed by President Jimmy Carter in 1978.

Chances are, you know someone who has survived cancer. On National Cancer Survivors Day (June 7th), we celebrate not only them but also their supportive families, and their care teams.
🎂 1 in 3 people in the US will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime.
🎂 Today, 70% of cancer survivors will celebrate their 5-year diagnosis anniversary. In the mid-1970s, that rate was only 50%.
🎂 Currently, about 18.6 million Americans are living as cancer survivors. That number is expected to climb to more than 22 million over the next decade. Now more than ever, it is vital that we work together to ensure cancer survivors are not forgotten once active treatment ends.

THANK YOU to all our PT Gymmers who donated or participated in the Hope As Big As Texas event earlier this month. Thanks to y’all, raised over $7,000 for the Quality of Life Respite Grant Fund, which provides 100 hours of professional caregiving services to families living with rare neurological disorders. 🩵 This organization is near to our hearts, as beloved members of our own community have been impacted by these atypical forms of Parkinson’s disease - progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), corticobasal degeneration (CBD), and multiple system atrophy (MSA).
