🍂🎃 Easy Fall Sensory Bin! 🎃🍂
Looking for a simple, inexpensive fall activity for your little one? This sensory bin is so easy to put together with just a few items!
We used:
🍁 Beans
🎃 Mini pumpkins
🕷️ Spiders
🧡 Pom poms
🧁 Muffin liners
🤏 Tongs for picking everything up!
It may look like simple play, but sensory bins can work on so many important skills!
✨ Sensory exploration — different textures, shapes, and materials provide tactile input and encourage hands-on exploration.
✨ Fine motor strength — using tongs helps strengthen the small muscles of the hands and fingers needed for skills like writing, dressing, and using utensils.
✨ Hand-eye coordination — picking up and placing small items takes visual attention and controlled hand movements.
✨ Grasp development — squeezing and manipulating the tongs encourages a more refined grasp pattern.
✨ Bilateral coordination — kids can use one hand to hold or stabilize containers while the other hand picks up and sorts items.
✨ Speech & Language — sensory bins are also a great way to work on object labeling, describing items, following directions, and building simple phrases such as “I found a pumpkin!” or “Put the spider in.”
✨ Sensory feeding — sensory play can support feeding goals by helping children become more comfortable exploring different textures, smells, and sensations in a low-pressure way.
✨ Sorting & matching — have them sort by color, type, or size for an added learning component!
The best part? You can make it with inexpensive items you may already have at home or find at the dollar store. 🍁
Simple play can build BIG skills! 🧡
