There was a season in my life where I could not make sense of why I was still being affected by things that had happened years before.

On the surface everything looked fine.
I had moved forward, built something new and shown up for my life in all the ways I was supposed to.

And yet something still felt off in ways I could not explain to anyone around me or even fully to myself.

I was still flinching at certain tones of voice, still shutting down in conversations that felt too familiar even when there was no real threat in the room, still waking up some mornings with a heaviness that had no obvious reason attached to it and still reacting to things in ways that felt too big for the moment.

I kept waiting to just be over it but nobody had ever told me that trauma does not follow a timeline.

Nobody told me there were layers to what I was carrying that I had not even scratched the surface of yet.

Starting can feel like the hardest part.

The uncertainty… the hesitation… not knowing what to expect or how it’s going to unfold. It’s completely normal to feel nervous about taking that first step, especially when it comes to something as personal as your healing.

But often, on the other side of that step is something different… support, understanding, and a space where you don’t have to carry everything on your own anymore.

This is the kind of experience I aim to create, a place where you feel met with patience, where you’re gently guided, and where you’re given tools that actually help you navigate what you’ve been carrying.

I fawned my way through so many relationships before I had a name for what I was doing.

I genuinely believed I was just easygoing, someone who preferred harmony over conflict.

What I was actually doing was abandoning myself in every single interaction because somewhere deep in my nervous system I had learned that my needs were a liability.

Understanding the fawn response didn't just give me language for what I had been doing, it gave me compassion for the younger version of me who developed it in the first place.

That compassion was the beginning of everything actually starting to shift.

These are not personality traits, they are patterns.
And they all have roots that go deeper than most people realize.

Whichever one you chose I want you to know it makes complete sense given what you have been through. And it also does not have to be permanent.

There is a particular kind of tired that comes from spending years being the person everyone else leaned on while quietly having nowhere to put down what you were carrying yourself.

You became the listener, the one who held space and the one who showed up for everyone else's hard moments with steadiness and warmth and all the right words.

And you did it genuinely because you cared.
But also because somewhere along the way, you learned that being needed was the closest thing to feeling safe in a relationship.

And now you are an adult who genuinely does not know how to receive the same care you give so freely to everyone else.

An adult who feels uncomfortable being held, who deflects when someone tries to check in on you, because being seen in your vulnerability feels more dangerous than being seen in your strength.

That is not who you are. That is what you learned. And there is so much waiting for you on the other side of unlearning it. 🤍
