Congratulations to Dr. Curtis Peery on being recognized by Intuitive as a “First Surgeon,” honoring surgeons who helped pioneer and advance robotic assisted surgery.

Dr. Peery performed his first robotic procedure in 2004 and was the first surgeon to perform robotic surgery in South Dakota. Over the past two decades, he has performed thousands of robotic procedures while educating and mentoring hundreds of surgeons in the United States and around the world.

Grateful to be back at Intuitive Surgical headquarters in Sunnyvale for “Da Vinci’s First Surgeons,” celebrating nearly three decades of robotic surgery.

It was an honor to be recognized among the early surgeons who believed in this technology, helped advance its use, and helped put it into the hands of other surgeons along the way.

What began as an unproven idea has now helped transform surgical care for millions of patients. Proud to have played a small part in that journey—and excited to see where innovation takes us next.
