Think about the last hour that belonged entirely to you. Not the drive, not the shower, not the scroll before bed. An hour where nobody is texting, calling, or needing something from you.
And that hour isn’t indulgent. It’s the only time your body gets a signal that it’s safe to stop bracing. 🌸
We schedule everything else, sometimes even for others. Appointments, obligations, all the things other people need from us. Our own hour never makes the list.
And that hour isn’t indulgent. It’s the only time your body gets a signal that it’s safe to stop bracing. Most of us walk around quietly on edge all day, shoulders up, jaw tight, breath shallow, and we’ve done it so long it just feels like us. Quieting that down isn’t about relaxing. It’s about letting your body finally come off high alert so it can do its actual work.
But your nervous system doesn’t get quiet because you told it to. It gets quiet when you give it the conditions. Slow breath, steady movement, attention on what your body is actually telling you instead of what it should be doing. That’s the shift out of fight or flight and into rest and repair, and it’s not a mood, it’s physiology. 🧬
It’s also why so many of us stall out. You can train hard and eat carefully and still see nothing change, because a body running on too little food, too little water, too little sleep, and too much stress is a body holding on for dear life. It will not let go of weight or build muscle while it thinks it’s in danger. Safety comes first. Strength comes after.
And here’s the part we love most: once you have a standing hour on the calendar, something loosens. Not because of the appointment itself, but because you finally told yourself this counts. Most of us just needed to hear that it was allowed.
You haven’t given yourself that hour yet. Yet.
It’s your time NOW! ✨🦋
