A different model…
At Harmony Family Health, we are out of network with all health insurances.
People sometimes ask why … and to be honest - there are so many reasons.
Most of the time, health insurance doesn’t help patients find health. Rather, it limits the means by which they can seek true health.
Even though we don’t bill insurance a tour office, we find that our patients are often limited by the specialists that they can see if they try to use their insurance. Dr Dan has a strong network of specialist that he likes to work with - but folks often can’t use them because of insurance limitations.
The same is true with lab work. Dr Dan often needs to see certain labs & markers but insurance companies argue that they’re not necessary & refuse to cover them.
When we give folks itemized statements for insurance reimbursement, insurance sometimes denies the visit if we don’t use the exact wellness CPT code that they want.
With our cash pay rates, folks know what to expect to pay for visits. There’s no co-pay plus 80/20 or out of network denials.
Dr Dan is able to spend more time with his patients & less time fight back & forth with insurance companies throughout the day.
We aren’t limited by what they will cover & we work hard to establish relationships with companies that offer reasonable cash rates for imaging, labs, therapies, counseling & such.
Dr Dan doesn’t have a nurse practitioner, a nurse, or even a medical assistant. He does everything himself.
We don’t require patients to do twenty pages of paperwork to explain pre-existing conditions or family histories before their visit - only to re-ask all the same questions during a visit.
When patients have questions, they can email, text or call Dan directly. There is no portal. No nurses answering for him. No middleman.
More often than not, Dan ends up at our office on the weekends for sick visits, X-rays or to do stitches for a patient in need.
It’s an old fashioned model of care that so many patients have come to appreciate over the typical clinical setting that Americans have come to know today.
We’re so incredibly grateful for this model and for the many patients that we’ve come to know as a result of being able to practice this way.
And for me personally, it’s been such a pleaser to work alongside of Dr Dan at our little practice in an adorable historic house - right in the heart of downtown McKinney.
Mary & I really enjoy our little apothecary & the visits that we get to have with so many shoppers & patients throughout the day.
