We are so grateful to begin the 2026–2027 school year partnering with Serenity High School in McKinney as their addiction treatment providers! 💜 At My Friend Jack’s House, we deeply believe in Serenity’s mission and the incredible resource they provide for students who are working toward recovery while continuing their education. As a team, we are honored to help ensure Serenity students have access to quality processing groups and individual meetings designed to support their sobriety, emotional growth, and success in earning their high school diploma. This partnership is especially meaningful to us because both Bonnie, our owner, founder, and counselor, and Natalya, our counselor intern, grew up in McKinney and attended McKinney schools themselves. We are incredibly proud to give back to the community that helped shape us and to support Serenity in helping young people build a future in recovery. 🧡🩵💛

Today, on National Overdose Awareness Day, we pause to remember those we’ve lost and to shed light on the stark changes in what substance abuse looks like today. Unlike decades past, the risk is far more dire due to the fentanyl epidemic. What once might have been experimentation is now a life-or-death gamble, where even one accidental dose can be fatal. We need to recognize that people struggling with addiction today are facing a heightened risk, and often, the chance for recovery and the chance for a second chance, is taken away. Help us break the stigma, spread compassion, and ensure that people have access to support, education, and lifesaving resources. No one is beyond hope.

The narrative of “not my kid” can be harmful because substance use and addiction do not discriminate. We see teens from every gender, race, socioeconomic background, family structure, and community walk through our doors seeking support. Every teen deserves education, open conversations, and access to help—not assumptions that addiction could never happen to them. Let’s replace “not my kid” with “I’m going to stay informed, stay connected, and be there if my teen ever needs me.”

📣 It's the final countdown to our International Overdose Awareness Day event! In honor of IOAD, we'll be sharing some key facts about overdose prevention & response.

One of the most common (and understandable!) questions that come up in overdose response trainings is "What happens if you give Narcan to someone who doesn't actually need it?"
Thankfully, the answer is pretty simple: Narcan/naloxone works by blocking opioid receptors, so if there aren't any opioids in their system, it won't harm them. If someone is showing the signs of an overdose, you should go ahead and administer the Narcan, even if you're not 100% sure (it's a better safe than sorry scenario!)

Harm Reduction Sisters will be providing free Narcan and educational materials at our International Overdose Awareness Day event this Saturday! Come join us at Lincoln Park in Duluth from 4pm-8pm for an evening of live entertainment, education, local resources, a community meal, and an overdose vigil to honor those we have lost to overdose 💜 We hope to see you there!

This program is designed to cultivate a shift from reactive to conscious leadership, strengthen the ability to navigate today's complex business challenges, and equip leaders with the tools to effectively grow and scale their organizations. We're excited to see this continued investment in leadership reflected in the care, vision, and impact My Friend Jack's House brings to the adolescents and families we serve every day.

A huge thank you to the McKinney ISD Impact Counselors for meeting with us yesterday morning! We’re grateful for the opportunity to discuss ways we can better support adolescents and families impacted by substance use, educate our community, raise awareness, and connect students with valuable resources. 🤝💙 Together, we can help create a stronger support system and improve students’ high school experience by making sure they know they are never alone and that help is available.
